As Reiki healers, we have a choice – either we can take control, or take charge.
We all want some level of control in our lives. But the problem is, the truth is, we don’t actually have much control at all. The desire for control is fear-based, and as such, creates more difficulties. Control is based in having our way.
Taking charge however, is a whole other ballgame. Let’s understand the difference.
Most of us remember uncle Ben from Spider-Man. He said: “With great power comes great responsibility.” And it rocked our worlds. The opposite is often truer: With great responsibility comes great power.
Taking control is about forcing our way.
It violates boundaries, prevents us from being grounded in reality, and stems from fear.
Taking charge is about taking responsibility, getting grounded in the gifts and the challenges of the situation and meeting the needs of this moment. It helps us step into our power, brings clarity to our actions, and stems from presence.
When you shift from trying to control to taking charge, everything changes. Life starts responding with new possibilities, fresh energy, opens unexpected doors.
So starting today, TAKE CHARGE. In small steps.

Take charge of your body:
Stop trying to control your body and make it fit a certain shape.
Take charge of your diet and exercise. Make responsible choices.
Invest your time and energy in learning about nutrition, health and the body.
How Reiki can help:
- Reiki your food and water for better nutrition absorption and hydration
- Reiki your pillows for better sleep
- Reiki your massage oils
Take charge of your mind:
Stop trying to control what thoughts come and go.
Take charge and refuse to pay attention to any thought that is irrelevant. Meditate. Do your daily Reiki.
Invest your time in rest. Invest in therapy when your mind is sub-par.
How Reiki can help:
- Daily self-healing with an extra focus on the lower chakras can improve focus, clarity and memory.
Take charge of your relationships:
Stop trying to control the people you love, stop trying to push your way.
Take charge and listen to what they have to say. Or leave them alone if they don’t want to talk. Because that’s listening too.
Invest in learning how to communicate in a healthy way. If you’re a parent, read parenting books.
How Reiki can help:
- Reiki flooding is a very powerful tool in improving all relationships.
- If your spouse practices Reiki too, healing each other is a powerful way to connect.
Take charge of your finances:
Stop trying to control the outcomes of your expenses.
Take charge and no matter how uncomfortable it is, live within your means. Save first, plan out your expenses, and only get into debt if it makes financial sense.
Invest your time and energy in finding ways to minimise your expenses. Don’t get greedy – don’t lend or gamble (this includes shares and stocks) with money that you’re not ready to lose.
How Reiki can help:
- If you have done level 2, you can heal your relationship with money.
- Make sure you heal your relationship with money BEFORE you set any intentions to get more. This is often the mistake which leads to poor results.
Take charge of your life:
Stop trying to control things you have no real control over anyway.
Take charge – assess risks, be realistic about your expectations, and do what needs to be done, even if you don’t like it.
Invest in moments that bring actual life to your life. Stop to smell the roses, don’t let your life drown in just traffic noise.
How Reiki can help:
- Reiki flooding is a very powerful tool in improving all relationships.
- If your spouse practices Reiki too, healing each other is a powerful way to connect.
Taking charge is obviously a more powerful way of bringing fruition to our dreams, but spiritually too it is one of the fastest ways to grow. This is because it is impossible to truly take charge without a combination of surrender to the divine will and the willingness to do everything that is in our hands. This is the key secret to not just manifestation but also liberation.
We won’t get it right the first time, we learn with every iteration. So don’t try to get it perfect, just get started. That’s what matters.
