In your journey of life, a moment may arrive where you find yourself presented with an opportunity to start over. Maybe this is a situation of taking a new job, relocating for the military, or just deciding to take a new direction in life. As you navigate through the challenges of breaking apart or leaving your old life, how can you move forward with grace and ease?
Maybe this is a decision that was out of your hands, or maybe this is an opportunity that you have been waiting for. Maybe this opportunity will take you to a different country where you will experience a different language and different cultures. Maybe this experience will take you out of your comfort zone, leaving behind all that you have become familiar with. Starting over doesn’t necessarily mean an ending; it can be the beginning of a whole new chapter in your life.
In 2022, I had the opportunity to start over. Starting over from leaving the familiar, moving forward knowing only my husband, to rebuild a home, career, and business.
Up until this opportunity I created a life for myself, which I called my little bubble. I had everything in a certain radius of where I lived, from where I had my work, hairdresser, doctor, and my favorite restaurants. I had a consistent routine. With time and consistency, this became a very comforting life for me.
One day I found myself in a situation where my husband was given an opportunity for his career. This opportunity would place him in the direction of where he had longed to be, and had been striving for for quite some time. The only catch is that this new opportunity was 1790 miles from where we currently live.
This opportunity would take me away from Family, friends, and away from the little bubble that I had grown accustomed to; however, this was an opportunity that my husband could not refuse.
I made every excuse not to continue forward with this move and the idea of starting over. I had a lot of fear and reservations, and I didn’t know if I could deal with the grief of letting go of what I created. Reiki was an instrumental part and helped me heal to give me the courage to move forward.
In June 2022, it was time for me to head out to El Paso, Texas, from my home in Western Pennsylvania. At 50 years old,d starting over again, breaking apart the life that I had grown very fond of. How can I navigate forward, not being bitter and angry at my husband for this decision?
One of the advantages of being a Reiki practitioner or master teacher is that you have tools to use for these seasons of your life to help you navigate through challenges and help you deal with changes in your life.
During this time, I utilized my Reiki symbols and the Reiki principles to help me navigate through this process. Whenever the feelings of anxiety, frustration, or anger arose, I used Reiki to help me release these emotions. It became a daily practice to help me the same way that you take a vitamin or take your medication, doing the Reiki every day, yet it began to make slow changes towards my attitude and helped deal with any fears in my mind with it or the unknown.

What can you do when you are faced with an opportunity to start over? Your attitude is everything.
Here are some suggestions that I used during my adventure in starting over.
- Try to keep a positive attitude. Challenges are going to happen, and reframe the way you look at the challenges. Even in the challenges, try to find the silver lining or even a bit of humor even through the very difficult times.
- Ask the Reiki to help guide you through the situation. This may be a situation that is unknown to you and you are struggling. Ask Reiki to help you trust the process.
- Map out your journey and use the Distance symbols and ask the Reiki to follow you and your family along the journey from the destination of where you’re leaving to where you’re arriving. Send this several weeks or, if you can, several months to the destination. That your travels will be smooth and easy, and that everyone will arrive safely.
- If you are using a real estate agent, send Reiki to the real estate agent and the potential sellers of your new place. Even if you were moving into an apartment or hotel, temporarily send Reiki energy towards where you will be living as you start over.
- Send Reiki to the moving trucks and to the drivers who will be helping transport. Maybe you are doing this move on your own, or maybe you have hired a company. Ask the Reiki to flow to all who are involved in the move.
- Send Reiki to your neighborhood and places where you will potentially go. Whether it’s a grocery store, doctor’s office, or a new job.
- Ask Reiki to help with any anxiety or fear, bring in your Reiki symbol to help with your emotional and mental issues. Moving is very stressful, and starting over can bring up feelings of grief about having to let things go. Make sure, as you send the Reiki to others, to always ask permission as Reiki respects freewill.
Oftentimes, we have a difficult time letting go and moving forward, however, this resistance could prevent you from a whole new opportunity and experiences that could be awaiting you. Trust the process and give yourself grace: we are human. We are human beings having a human experience, and it’s normal to experience different emotions along this journey.
Having Reiki is a valuable tool in your energetic tool box to help you navigate the new opportunities ahead. Reiki can help you during difficult times, and when you are struggling to let go, Reiki can help you move forward, allowing you to start over. Trust the process and enjoy the opportunity of starting over.
