A reader who reads my articles on Reiki Rays once asked me why do I write heavy articles, which have deep meanings. Why can’t I write about lighter topics such as crystals or symbols uses or something lighter? This is what I said to the reader, Reiki is about truth and truth is neither easy nor light! That is to say while Reiki is nice and has lot of nice usage in our daily life, it is also about truths and revelations and a deeper understanding of life.
Today’s article is about death and Reiki. Can Reiki save lives, prevent death, etc? Should you give Reiki to people with critical illnesses or people who are on their death bed?
Reiki can definitely save lives, when a person is not destined to die at that particular time. We call these Reiki miracles. However, Reiki cannot, will not prevent death. I have encountered Reiki masters who gave up Reiki because their loved ones died. They felt very bitter towards Reiki especially when they tried their best to save their loved ones. I asked them surely you do not think that Reiki could have prevented your loved one from dying? But that is exactly what they thought.
I lost three members of my immediate family in the last year. I too was angry with Reiki when the first member died. I had tried everything to save him. And still he died. I was even blamed for his death by some relatives. And for a while I blamed myself, thinking Reiki had killed him. So I refrained myself from giving Reiki to the next member who fell critically ill. But he too passed away. I was able to understand that Reiki is not doing anything to prevent death. It is simply making the process easier for those who are sick and its their time to go. In fact, Reiki probably makes the transition quick and painless.
I feel as Reiki masters we feel omnipotent and sometimes we over promise ourselves and others that Reiki will save a person no matter what. Don’t let these thoughts fool you cause they are coming from your ego. It is sad but true that sometimes we try to save lives in Reiki, simply because we want to be known as great.
So for those of you who contemplate whether to give healing to very sick people, this is what you can do. Send healing to their soul. The soul will decide whether the body wants to stay behind or not. Do not stress on the outcome such as make them better, give them good health etc. Just send healing with the distance symbol and leave it upto the soul. And for those of you who have stopped practicing Reiki, because you blame yourself, please do not. Reiki comes to those who will use it for the greater good. It gives you great ability to cope with both mysteries of life and death.

Exactly my thought process. Many events in life define these thought processes. First one i remember till day is when a person ‘ an enlighted soul he was’ told me about the demise of his son in his twenties. His next statement which shook me was ‘ he had a short life but i’m happy that he had a gud life’. and many people would go to him with their problems, but his own son… he could not do anything. This till day is my best example of ACCEPTANCE. Accept that we are all MORTALS and as reiki practioners we can help others but can’t change destiny. I remember sending healing to someone in family (others had given up on her) just that what ever be the case she has it easy. She came out of it , but then she was destined to. And then recently another incident when I unattatched myself from the process of sending reiki it was easy for me to accept the sad demise. But in both cases I am a nobody…its the higher Gud thought that should take over , over our ego.
vrey nice article n information ananya….you are a right teacher..:)
thanks !! all the best
Ananya u are a good teacher I know no one can change destiny but how to heal our self fron life’s cruel incidences.
Reiki can help you cope with grief and death…as I mentioned in my article I lost 3 members in my family in less than a year… If I had not known Reiki I would have done something silly by now
When this happened the first time to me ……. I was confused. But then I sat down in meditation ….. and I got exactly the same answer that you have written in your article ……. that giving reiki at such times ……..when death is anyway destined ……. it eases the transition for the soul ! So do not worry ……..and after that I have always felt …… whatever maybe the result ….. even if it death for the person who is receiving the reiki ……. I feel blessed that I was chosen by the higher wisdom to channel the reiki energy through me to ease their transition ……. reiki has helped them ! Thank you !
This is actually a topic that every Reiki channel should understand. As we know this is the Mortal world and every one who is born is destined to die. There may be a time for someone near and dear to leave, in these situations we must give them Reiki without any attachment – Rightly said in this article “Send healing to their soul. The soul will decide whether the body wants to stay behind or not. Do not stress on the outcome such as make them better, give them good health etc. Just send healing with the distance symbol and leave it upto the soul.”
Thanks for sharing your experiences it will surely encourage those who might have similar expereinces and may be blaming themselves or Reiki energy.
Thank you for your article about sending reiki to soul
thanks for reading!

My grandfather passed in 2009. Through his passing I had the most profound Reiki experience. When I got to him he was curled up in pain and in a coma. He had days to live so we were told. I worked on him.for about 45min. My family witnessed his body relaxing. His breathing became unlabored. The nurses were astonished he no longer need morphine. I stayed by his side for 2 weeks. Every time a family member visited I would clear the room and clear him of the emotional energy. This is my most treasured blessing to have been apart of his passing. He had the most beautiful death and we still marvel over it. Please don’t stay away from the dying. It’s the most loving gift we can give as they pass over to God’s hands.Blessings
I learned a valuable lesson when my client of three years finally succumbed to cancer of her brain. We met soon after she was diagnosed and I watched her go in and out of remission so many times yet when her journey here ended I took it very personally at first. Intellectually I knew that I could not change her fate through Reiki but deep down I felt that I let her down. So many times I spoke directly to her tumor and demanded that it leave her body. In time I understood that this was in fact a lesson for me, one I shall always carry with me. My attachment to this special client, whom I usually saw once a week, prevented me from fully accepting that as a conduit for the loving energy Reiki offers I could not prevent death. In retrospect, I have found this experience to be valuable to me as a practitioner and for when I attune others to Reiki through workshops.

Hi,
Today one of my clients said they felt their soul leaving them nd they held onto it afraid to let go! Has anyone experienced this with their client and what is it supposed to mean and what to say to the client?
