The Infinity Symbol (sometimes called the Lemniscate-‘ribbon’ in Greek) is a symbol representing the concept or idea of infinity, or eternity. John Wallis is credited for introducing the infinity symbol into mathematical concepts around 1655, but it is based on a combination of earlier symbols from various different origins.
It has its’ basis within the Roman Numeral of 1,000 (meaning many), on the Greek letter OMEGA, the last letter in the Greek Alphabet, or a snake biting its own tail (The Ouroboros) and is also related to the Qabbalistic symbol associated to the Hebrew Letter A.
This symbol also started to appear on the Tarot cards of the 1700’s – on the Tarot Card associated with the Juggler or the Magus, and even in the Celtic knot designs of the Double Infinity. It also has roots in India and Tibet, where the symbol represented perfection and equilibrium between the male and female gender. It can even be seen in the yin/yan symbol from China and the Far Eastern philosophies.
It represents, at its very core, humanity’s physical representation of the concept of infinity, eternity, immortality, never-ending, eternal return and renewal, or the concept of Creation and the Creator. Many versions of energy medicine today (Donna Eden – Energy Medicine / Denise Linn – Space Clearing) use this symbol as a way of uniting or igniting energies within the body, places or situations.
When to Use the Infinity Symbol
The symbol, as detailed above, has reverberated with humanity throughout the ages, regardless of race, religion, continent, or origin. When used – the infinity symbol can bring about a deep harmonic resonance to the Creator and the Creation of the Universe.
This symbol can help to move or ignite energy when it feels stuck or stagnant, or it can help heal or unite energy when it feels separate, spaced out, or distant.
- Use over pets/animals to unite their aura and bring them a sense of deep calm and protection
- Use over plants to heal their healing vibration of life
- Use over yourself/client at the beginning of the treatment to move stagnant energies, then at the end of the treatment to bring balance and harmony to the meridians

- Bring your hands towards the left side of your body in a downward motion, shifting your weight to the left foot as you make the left bottom loop of the infinity symbol.
- Bring hands upward, then start to shift your body towards the right as you move your hands into a downward motion to come back to the centre at heart level.
- Repeat 3x, 6x or 9x as you feel guided
- You can also use a one hand motion, drawn in the figure eight pattern over yourself, or someone else.
