Mae Loong Reiki Symbol – The Tibetan Fire Serpent

In Reiki Teachership, there is something known as the Teacher’s Kit. The Teacher’s Kit comprises of 3 symbols, Mae-Loong, Dumo, and Raku. Though the kit may differ from person to person, these were the symbols given to me during attunement by my teacher.

There are already articles on Dumo and Raku, hence I thought why not write about the third symbol present in the kit which is Mae-Loong also known as the Tibetan Fire Serpent. This symbol is used in Traditional, Tibetian as well as Karuna Reiki®. The attunement process differs from person to person and I firmly believe none of the methods is wrong.

Generally, an attunement process starts with this symbol, Mae Loong is drawn all over the back and Crown chakra. The reason an attunement starts with this symbol is that it helps in awakening the Kundalini. For those who do not know what a Kundalini is – It is divine female energy which lies coiled at the base of the spine. The Kundalini can be awakened with Yoga or other spiritual practices. It is said that once the Kundalini is fully awakened, we are aware of the spiritual truth and manifestation for higher good happens in seconds.

As we awaken the Kundalini with help of Mae-Loong, the “Serpent” (as Kundalini is called) awakens and the Reiki energy is pushed into higher and lower chakras of our body. This symbol helps one realise the ultimate truth and also ground at the same time. This symbol is truly special as it works on all chakras equally and helps maintain equilibrium.

Other lesser-known facts about the symbol are, it is an excellent symbol when it comes to backache. If someone is suffering from backache, draw this symbol all over their back, activate it and give healing for some time, the ache will be gone in no time.

When one practices this symbol, it is a good idea not only to do self-healing with the symbol but also meditate with it. The best way to meditate with this symbol is to close your eyes and visualise it. Some may visualise it in golden some in purple or white, honestly, any colour is fine, just like even if there is no colour that too is equally fine. If you have difficulty in visualising, it is also good to stare at the symbol be it on your laptop or mobile phone!

As one works closely with this symbol they will see a lot of changes, as the Kundalini will rise and one shall be transformed into a new human being altogether. This symbol ensures all the chakras are in harmony and we lead a happy and healthy life.
