Mahavatar Babaji is the Master of the Breath and therefore the Master of Life itself. The breath is what keeps us alive. He is supposed to be an immortal avatar, with a physical body that is eternally young. As per some teachings, he has ascended with his physical body and continues to shine his light and wisdom upon the world. His energy appears before those who are ready for it and helps them progress on their spiritual journey.
He has been referred to in the book “Autobiography of a Yogi” by Paramahansa Yogananda. The first time I heard of Babaji was as a young teenager when my mother and aunt were having a conversation about the book “Autobiography of a Yogi”. The name just registered in my mind after which I did not give it much thought. Several years later, I was at an energy healing workshop when Babaji was mentioned again. This time his name struck a deeper chord. But that was about it. A few months after the workshop, I began to receive guidance to work with Mahavatar Babaji. I was then led to a healer who specialised in a modality known as Rebirthing Breathwork founded by Leonard Orr. This technique facilitates healing through the use of conscious breathing techniques.
During one of these sessions, I had a vision of Babaji in my third eye and this further strengthened my connection with him. Around the same time, Babaji helped me refine and strengthen my healing skills. I was taught the technique of healing with light and colour, in conjunction with Reiki and the Angels. Circumstances weaved themselves around in such a way that I was also given the opportunity to heal patterns of ancestral karma through the use of Reiki and soul communication with departed loved ones. Babaji’s energy guided me through all of this. I had no clue how things unfolded. It was like a spontaneous awakening of innate healing skills and spiritual wisdom. This phase in my life brought blessings not just to me but to my entire family including our ancestors. During this period of healing, I was blessed to have Babaji’s energy surround me at all times. It most often appeared as visions in the third eye and sometimes as flashes of light in which the energetic form of Babaji was visible.
The angels have a soft and gentle energy that brings us love and comfort. However, Babaji’s energy has a majestic feel to it and brings us courage and insight.

Babaji’s energy continued to stay with me for a few more months and I was also guided to learn and practise yoga. I went on to learn Yoga, the practice of which brought me numerous benefits again. Even today, I call upon Babaji at times when I am guided to and his presence is felt very strongly. From my work with the Masters, I have observed that the Masters make their presence felt in our lives when we would most benefit from working with them. At other times, they stay in the background and come forward only when we call upon them.

The energy of Babaji would benefit all Reiki healers, especially those who also practise Yoga. Even if you do not practise Yoga, you are free to call on him if you resonate with his energy. Being in contact with his energy may inspire you to learn Yoga some day! Babaji can help you-

In order to work with Babaji, you can do the following
- Chanting the name ‘Babaji’ with strength and power helps you get in touch with his energy. This also benefits your Reiki practice as his energy helps you along your spiritual journey.
- Breathing consciously with your complete attention on your in breath and out breath will also help you get in touch with his energy.
- Calling on him during Yoga practice will add more power to the same.
Keep in mind that if you are regular with Reiki practice, communicating and working with the Masters is not difficult at all. Neither is it restricted to a few so called ‘lucky’ people. These are very normal experiences that are presented to everyone who is committed to the path.
