We get energetic messages from everywhere all the time. If we open ourselves to this communication and are willing to receive and participate in it, we can get a wealth of information about what is going on in our lives beyond the obvious. One of the ways we can do that is to communicate with our own bodies.
I actually began to do this work when I was still very sick. The seed for the idea was planted in the beginning years of my neurological problems. An acquaintance asked me about my health and when I told her about the severe migraines I had, she asked if I had tried bio-feedback. I hadn’t, but it got my wheels turning about the communication between my mind and my body. I realized that it was very possible to change the way they communicated so that I felt better. I couldn’t afford a bio-feedback session, but I decided to learn what messages my body and mind were sending to each other, and see what influence I could have on that.
Over the years, I practiced noticing the signals from all over my body and also noticing what thoughts my mind was having. One day I was very bored and anxious from hours of tedious waiting in the hospital. I was hooked up to a machine that monitored my pulse, respiration and blood pressure so I tried lowering my pulse and blood pressure with the signals in my mind. It worked fairly immediately. Due to pain and anxiety, they had been slightly elevated and this got them down to a normal level. I realized that I really was communicating with my body and it was listening! All I had done was closed my eyes, notice the anxiety and the rapid heart rate and then lovingly ask it to slow down.
I have since used this to look into pain in my body and communicate with it in ways that help me learn a lot about the source of the issue. Many times, simply observing and communicating with pain in my body is enough to allow it to dissolve and release. Even if it is not ready to completely release, it usually relaxes its hold, so it feels less intense.
Now that I work with energy, I understand that my body is energy and it is always sending out signals. I can feel these in the energy that flows through it, the pleasure and the pain that I feel, and the ways that my body responds to emotional energy. Even simple things such as how my body expresses are signals about how it is doing and what it needs or wants. My thoughts are energy, too, and they are always interacting with my body in an on-going flow of communication and feedback.
Communicating with your body can help you learn more about your internal world. This is the basis of Louise Hay’s work. She believes that the body expresses materially whatever the mind and the emotions are holding. This completely fits with energy medicine and the understanding that the body is the densest layer of our energy, which we can easily see, feel and interact with. It is not separate from the rest of your energy, but is simply the part of your energy that materializes in this realm.
To communicate with your body, it helps to start by becoming familiar with how your body feels and how you respond to these sensations. You can do this by practicing using your mind to scan the body or to check in with a particular area you wish to learn more about. Let go of any thoughts of judging any of the sensations or parts of your body as good or bad, healthy or unhealthy. Avoid getting caught in resistance or fear of any unpleasant or painful sensation in your body, and also avid getting attached to any sensation of pleasure. Simply notice the sensations in your body while noticing your thoughts and emotions in response to them. Notice if you contract around any particular sensation, or if you expand. Note if any colors or scents are associated with any sensations or areas of your body.
If there is an area or sensation you wish to explore more deeply, imagine your consciousness floating deep within that area. Remain in a state of non-judgmental observation and explore the sensation from the inside. As you learn what you can, see if it feels good to ask that part of your body what it has to tell you. Does it need something from you? Is there something that would support its well-being? If there is discomfort, does it seem to want to flow through and release? It often does. If it seems to be stuck, see if you can ask it what is creating the blockage. Ask how you can open yourself to help it to release.
The information you receive may not come immediately. It is possible that your body will simply be able to let go of any blockage or pain simply because you were attentive to it. However, you may receive a message as a “knowing” of what to do, something like an internal conversation. You may see an image or words in your mind. You may receive signs over the next hours and days through the conversations you have, your dreams or your environment. The important thing is that you have opened the conversation and this supports the growth and healing of your body, mind and spirit.

Thank you for your wonderful article. I know what you say is possible, but I never thought of it till I read this. Thank you. Blessings always..
Wonderful article. Though this is a know fact, its really beautifully written and something that I needed to read right now. Thanks Angie for this.
Thanks for that Angie, I have been looking into that idea lately and it makes total sense to me. I have been reading about EFT Tapping to clear physical problems that have an emotional basis from the past. Your article is very similar but without the tapping. I wonder if the key to healing the body is not in the tapping or anything similar, but in the self acceptance and inclusion of the body in the dialogue.
Nice article. Well written
I needed this. I’ve been working on making drums for over a week. They guy is nice, but he doesn’t realize the energy he absorbs and how many directions he pulls people in. I was so drained yesterday, my elder pulled me into her office, washed the energy off with sage and bear root and the healing circle helped. My crystals I carry in my bra and from my medicine bag are charging now as we speak. I performed the violet chakra healing, reiki and said my prayers with my native medicines and I took many breaks from him today. I realized yesterday how much I have learned from him for creating the drums, that’s it’s time for me to work on my own now. Thank you for the reminder. These articles are great and I will succeed in blocking energy vampires.
Thank you Angie. You have really opened my eyes. It is an aspect I never thought of before. Bless you.
