The brow, or third eye chakra is located in the middle of the forehead, between the eyebrows.
We experience energy in this chakra when we feel a tightness across our forehead when we are anxious, trying to concentrate or remember something. Some may also notice a feeling of openness, tingling, coolness or other sensations during prayer, meditation, communing with nature or devotional practices which promote insight, concentration and an understanding of oneness.
This chakra affects the brain, particularly the lower and middle brain, the pituitary gland and some functions of the central nervous system, such as the autonomic. It supports the eyes as well. The third eye chakra also supports our insight and intuition, imagination, concentration and perception, wisdom, devotion, our ability to have a good memory and also helps logic and emotion to function well together.
When it is not functioning well, we are likely to have problems with our vision, our central nervous systems, neurological problems, sleep problems (excessive sleep, insomnia or nightmares), excessive daydreams, fantasies or hallucinations, paranoia and we may be disorientated in time and/or space. We may also have headaches, migraines, sinus issues, difficulty concentrating, focusing or remembering.
Issues in the third eye may keep us from trusting and connecting with others, just as issues in the heart chakra can. Methods for healing this chakra include meditation, prayer, visual stimulation, including creating visual art or journaling.
The crown chakra is located at the top of the head, where the neck of the chakra attaches.
The funnel of the chakra opens upward and extends out above the head, out into the aura.
We experience a sense of pressure or warmth in this chakra when energy is moving through it. You may have felt this during a moment of inspiration.
This chakra affects the upper part of the brain, the central nervous system and the pineal gland. It also supports our spiritual connection to the Divine, a sense that our individual self is working in unison with a Higher Self. This offers unity, purpose, service and inspiration. It allows us to have an open mind that is able to ask questions, assimilating new knowledge into intelligence.
Issues in this chakra can lead to headaches, depression, being overly religious or having a complete apathy in regard to spiritual matters, being overbearing, learning difficulty or being extremely egoic about the intellect, materialism and closed mindedness. Using your mental abilities, particularly in a new way, can be healing for this chakra, as can exposing yourself to beauty through art or nature. Learn something new. Try out new beliefs.
