The feminine and masculine energy are the yin and yang present in every being. However, our modern society highlights their stark polarity rather than similarities. Men take a more logical, practical, and action-oriented approach when facing life’s challenges while women are emotional, intuitive, and connection-oriented in their approach. Of course, there are many exceptions to every generalization in evidence-based social psychology.
In spirituality, gender is an expression and experience but not a definition. It doesn’t limit the spiritual journey of a person though certain religious rituals are gender-based. Knowledge and wisdom know no gender while the Divine is both masculine and feminine in energy in all beings. It’s the core belief of intuition-based spiritual psychology that the world refuses to accept openly.
More men have turned to energy healing in recent years. They face psychological and spiritual challenges at every life stage, from getting the right education and finding remunerative jobs to building fulfilling careers and happy families. Even when a man performs his duty responsibly, he might experience a mid-life crisis due to the global recession and pandemic. He rarely feels safe and secure but is responsible for others’ safety and security.
In my healing practice and life experiences guiding men with energy healing, here are 5 reasons why energy healing is too tough to follow through for men.
Socially Constructed Masculinity Is In Denial
Our society has both patriarchal and matriarchal communities worldwide. However, they are built on establishing either masculine-centric or feminine-centric power hierarchies. Very few tribal communities have created a harmonious balance between the masculine and feminine energies among humans.
The modern man is repeatedly excused for expressing aggression, emotional unavailability, and non-committal behavior at home more than in the workplace. I’ve always wondered how men who practice domestic violence in their families are widely respected as ideal employees and respectable individuals in the workplace and society. It all starts with gaps in parenting and early life education. Men learn about how society perceives them and what it expects from them through their parents, families, and schools in their childhood. Eventually, men learned to mask their true selves for social acceptance and recognition.
Vulnerability Is A Spiritual Superpower
Most men shy away from asking for help or experience low self-esteem when asking for help from their loved ones. It’s because they are often seen as providers and not receivers. They hardly speak up about their challenges, emotions, or mental health issues as they have built an invisible wall between their ego mind, Higher Self, and the network of lightworkers, especially during times of crisis. This approach cuts them off from the intuitive nature of feminine energy; recycling past trauma and toxic life patterns.
It’s a non-negotiable for men to create safe spaces for themselves and their loved ones to be vulnerable. Reiki and other energy healing pathways help them explore their emotional and spiritual intelligence. Authenticity and self-acceptance are the first steps toward healing. It’s okay to ask for help, share your pain, and get therapy as a man.
Emotional Repression Is The Antithesis of Healing
Men who broke down, cried, or admitted to feeling fear, were sissies, weaklings, and failures. Not men.—Pat Barker
Men are empathetic and intuitive in their childhood. Male babies cry just like female babies do. Most men lose the connection to their innate emotional intelligence as they grow up in a more patriarchal environment. Parents, relatives, and friends bully boys for being soft-natured, soft-spoken, and soft-hearted. Isn’t that a divine gift? Unfortunately, these boys grow up to be toxic men with repressed emotions. They dump their unresolved emotional burden on their life partners and children; repeating the cycle of unhealthy parenting.
Self-expression is the key to regulating the nervous system for individuals, irrespective of gender. Breathwork, somatic therapies, and energy healing pathways like Reiki ease the flow of pent-up emotions healthily.
Fixation on Evidence-based Logic
Did you know that men and women think and behave differently because of the differences in their brain development since their fetal stage? A recent study using MRI scans found that female fetuses have neurological connections (“functional connectivity”) that are almost nonexistent in male brains. We have hardwired differences in place even before we’ve been exposed to cultural, environmental, or family influences.
Anatomically speaking, male brains use more grey matter which supports information and action-centered areas of the brain when processing a situation, and female brains use more white matter which governs “higher order” reasoning and thinking. Energy healing gives unique experiences according to your spiritual timeline and doesn’t always follow evidence-based logic. It has limited evidence-based results when compared to mainstream medicine. Ultimately, it takes a lot of faith, surrender, and letting go of social conditioning for a man to tap into his intuitive power and begin his healing journey.
Misconceptions on Energy Healing
Most men misinterpret “healing is only for women”. This can’t be farther from the truth. Men and women require tools and techniques to heal their mind and body. Learning meditation, Reiki, and other energy-healing pathways is a great way to explore your subconscious mind and its connection with the Higher Self. It will align your health, relationships, and career in the long run.
Gender as perceived on Earth is different from that of the spiritual realm. Men need to take time out for self-care, self-love and self-empowerment. They’re so busy focusing on winning the game of life that they fall back on taking good care of themselves.
I wish Men of The World would listen to their inner child as much as they listen to what the world around them dictates.
