If you are a dedicated Reiki practitioner regardless of the Reiki system(s) you practice and the plethora of sacred symbols and the gifts they attribute in enhancing/harmonizing our Reiki practices. You may be familiar with a non-traditional sacred symbol available throughout various certified types of Reiki practitioners known as “Nin Giz Zida” also known as Tibetan Fire Serpent.
Interestingly enough the word Nin Giz Zida also correlates to an ancient time of Mesopotamian name, “Ningishzida” a god of the life-death-cycle continuum/underworld, vegetation, and (some may say even) war, that can also incarnate into human form. His father, “Ninazu”, is the god of healing and carries underworld relativity of a non-negative nature. Which too corresponds to our modern-day medical symbology of the Caduceus which features two coiled serpents a topped with wings. This aligns the association with snakes/serpents and even dragons to both Ningishzida and his father Ninazu as well.
As we fast-forward in a modern paradigm, we are currently in the early stages and phases of the new year of 2024 being a Year of the (Wood) Dragon relative to the Chinese zodiac and the Chinese Lunar calendar. Dragons are very powerful visionaries with seemingly infinite vital energy, generous, truly committed leaders and benevolent rulers. Knowing and possessing a keen sense of self. Confident without false nor empty bravado, as holding higher ideals worth striving for. And more times than not, striving for the benefit of their community instead of for selfish gains. They are extremely independent thinkers, wise and adventurous yet temperamental and impulsive usually serving as movers and shakers of our contemporary society. Because Dragons have the abilities to succeed at anything they put their mind to, including sports/athletics, academics, the arts, business, and politics. Especially, when it can hold their interests, Dragons are relentless in their pursuit to know as much as possible about their focused endeavors.
Dragons are not able to and would rather not waste energy to deal with trivialities, needing assistance by more attention to detail-oriented zodiac signs. Allowing Dragons time, space and allowances for higher-consciousness approaches. Dragons are the true dreamers of the world, turning dreams into manifested reality.
In our current reality which seems to be evolving in various capacities thanks to an ongoing influx of Cosmic, Universal, Galactic, planetary, and an interesting mix of Celestial bodies’ energies, vibrations and frequencies allowing for awakening, healing, evolving/ascending of consciousness en mass creating an as above so below union.
On a personalized and individual level, the snake/serpent dragon simultaneously represents our Kundalini also known as a “Sleeping Serpent” coiled in waiting at the base of our spines to be awakened spontaneously or through dedicated sacred practices such as meditations, conscious breathing exercises, the practice of yoga asanas and chanting of specific mantras.
Interestingly as well, the sacred Nin Giz Zida symbol is an integral function at the beginning of all Reiki attunements. The horizontal line represents our Crown chakra as the serpent winds its way down the spine into a clockwise spiral at the base of our spines. Serving in grounding energy in the lower half of the body, from our tailbones down to our feet (where our Earth Star chakra resides)!
Reiki practitioners may very well hold an energetic advantage during this Year of the Dragon with the synchronistic alignments of interrelated and connected energies thanks to Reiki, Nin Giz Zida and the Year of the Dragon respectively unified in vision, mission and purpose throughout 2024 and well beyond for each Reiki practitioner to utilize for self and our overall collective wellbeing.
