Last time, we looked at how Angels can interact with us in helping us to create the most appropriate essential oil blends for our purposes, and we touched on the idea of Astrological Angels. This article explores further the concept of Angels in Astrology to help in the aligning of Angelic influences when serving our clients.
I’ve encountered many differing systems when it comes to associating scents and Angels, but just as there are differences between systems of astrological Angels, floral Angels, crystal Angels, etc., I suggest it really comes down to personal experience and personal preference. We are individuals, after all, and there really is no such thing as “one size fits everyone.”
Also remember that:
“…contacting angels is not as simple as using a fragrance…The angel is the driver of a bus traveling to different realms. Fragrance is the route the bus travels. It puts us on the right track, but we need to signal as well. At a bus stop this is done by putting out an arm. When using fragrance the signal is a mental one, and so when using angelic vibrations, we need to use prayer, meditation, and good intent and purpose.
“Angels are not the destination, but the route…”
We can further support and enhance our work with Angels by partnering this practice with Reiki. Regardless of our level of training, our “aromatic working” will benefit exponentially as we incorporate the visualization, sound and state of the Reiki symbols, allowing ourselves to be the conduit of these energies.
Traditionally, each month is assigned its own Angel, though as with birthstones and birth flowers, there is definitely a distinction between the calendar Month and the Astrological month or Sun sign. We also may find differences from one source to the next. Not all of these Angels are well-known.
Here is a starting place to encourage you in your own research:
An Angel of January: Gabriel – Angel of Aquarius
Gabriel’s story is long and complex, according to texts. Variously called the Angel of annunciation, resurrection, mercy, vengeance, revelation and death, Gabriel is considered an Archangel, a term used to describe the station of an Angel in the celestial hierarchies. In general, Archangels are more complex in their domains, and are generally more known than other Angels.
When creating a blend under the auspices of Gabriel, or any other Archangel, expect that it may be many-layered, consisting of a number of different essential oils in varying amounts. Give yourself a chance to allow the blend to evolve.
Some of the essential oils said to be under the auspices of Gabriel:
- Angelica seed (Angelica archangelica)
- Bay laurel (Laurus nobilis)

An Angel of April: Asmodel – Angel of Taurus
Originally a chief of the order of the Cherubim, Asmodel is one of those Angels whose persona changed over the course of time. In the realm of Ceremonial Magic, Asmodel is known as the “demon of punishment,” which says more about a mindset of the Cabalist than the energetics of the Angel. According to Richard Webster, Asmodel is the Angel of Patience, a fitting Angel for Taurus.

- Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin)

An exercise
Try your hand at creating Angel blends using the above suggestions. Based on your own knowledge and understanding of these essential oils, what do you discern about Angelic energies as represented by them? Take some time to make a few notes. Then, when you are able to spend some time in meditation, try to connect with the Angelic energies without using any essential oils to see what kind of information you receive. You may find that you compile an entirely different compendium of Angels and essential oils! As always, your work will be enhanced by including Reiki practice.
