Reiki – Supporting a Family

It’s been a while since I’ve found time to sit and write a heartfelt article for Reiki Rays, and there is a personal reason for this. I won’t write an article unless I feel connected and truly in alignment with my words before sharing it with others. I’ve been unable to do this until now.

2015 has been an emotional year for me. Those that have read my articles will know I’ve been estranged from my sister for about 3 or 4 years with no contact with her or the three children. That changed in March when she contacted me, due to a family trauma she was experiencing. Her husband of 14 years had run off with another woman and my sister was left to raise 2 boys and a girl, on her own. All three have Asperger’s and are on the autism spectrum.

In June I flew down to Brisbane and spent 4 weeks helping out and assisting in whatever way I could. It was a massive upheaval for the family, with the ex-husband taking the furniture from the lounge room, and nothing for us to sit on. So one of the first things I did was go shopping with my sister and purchasing a brand new lounge suit.

I also gave my sister beautiful loving Reiki, and one particular treatment had her drifting off into a safe and secure place. She was reluctant to come out of it. I also treated the children with Reiki also, and they seriously loved it and wanted to learn, and so I gave them a brief outline on how to ‘give Reiki’. The photos below show them doing their Reiki on each other.

I found by brining Reiki into their life, gave their mum some sense of relief and relaxation from the stress she was going through, as well as the children. The children really seemed to enjoy the treatment they received and also loved giving it.

What I also did was cleared out the entire house. My sister was ‘lucky’ enough to keep the house and so I go stuck into vacuuming the floors and even hiring professional cleaners to come in and clean the carpets. I got professional cleaners to come and clean the windows, inside and out. And I got into the act of cleaning myself, by cleaning down the walls and the kitchen and scrubbing every ounce of the house, because what I was doing was ‘clearing’ the energy. I wanted to clear out all the residual energy of my sister’s ex-husband.

I also did many of the Reiki symbols in each room as I was in housework mode to lighten the energy dramatically. And it worked. The house began to feel so much lighter and more welcoming… and even more so when the new furniture arrived. The house began to feel welcoming and loving again. It was beautiful.

Whilst in Brisbane (which is about 4 hours on a plane from my home of Darwin) I was blessed to keep working, because my Tarot/Reiki and Hypnotherapy clients are international and so I had plenty of work whilst South helping out my sister, and this enabled me to pay for so many things that she needed doing around the home. You will see from the photos, that I had my practice set up in my sisters garage, and thank all the clients of Brisbane for being OK with the makeshift Reiki and Tarot room.

I thank Reiki energy for giving me everything I needed to keep myself afloat and making an income whilst so far from home, and enough money to also help out my sister and give her children what they needed as well and a bit more than they anticipated.

Since flying home to Darwin, I’ve been inundated with clients and have not found the time to sit and connect with my articles. So I thank you for your patience and trust you’ll enjoy this article and how it demonstrates that Reiki can help so much in supporting a family in need.
