Article by Colin Powell
I always remember my daughter coming home from a college class, telling me how she had been berated by the tutor for suggesting that the class have a “brainstorming” session to come up with the solution to a problem. The tutor said that the term “brainstorming” was no longer politically correct and she should have used the term “thought shower” instead. But the relentless march of radical political correctness is not the subject of this article! ☺
I chose the title “Thought Shower” because these are thoughts that came to me as I was drying myself after having a shower! What follows is pretty much as it came to me:
Time is the measurement of movement, change, growth.
Without movement, change, growth there would be no Time.
Just for Today refers to the Present Moment, that infinitesimal moment of Now, between moments, when everything is as it actually is: no movement, change or growth. It is timeless, it is precious as it is in that instant in which we can fully experience our True Nature and experience everything as it really is.
In this present moment, there is no room for anger or worry as these relate to the past (anger) and future (worry) and bother require time to grow.
In this present moment, gratitude arises naturally as we are free of anger and worry and are also able to experience our True Nature.
To arrive at this present moment we need to practice (work) diligently but once we experience this moment there is no work to be done, no energy to expend.
The experience of this present moment allows us to really know that Everything is Connected, All is One and therefore when we express kindness to ourself, or another, we are really being kind to everyone and everything.

Colin Powell has been a Usui Reiki Ryoho Teacher, in the UK, since 1998 and believes in keeping Reiki practice as pure and as simple as it was originally meant to be. To this end he began researching the history and development of the system of Reiki and found that, although there was a huge amount of information available on the internet and in books, much of it was contradictory or did not seem to “fit” quite right. He has been initiated into several styles of Reiki practice including Usui Shiki Ryoho, Gendai Reiki, Komyo Reiki and Jikiden Reiki, drawing on these influences and his own research to teach Reiki: pure & simple.
