Can you cultivate a peaceful heart with your Reiki?
Yes, but it does take time and dedicated practice. The word “cultivate”, in this context, means to develop a skill. You are already a Reiki practitioner, so what skill is it that you need to develop? The openness and receptivity for the Reiki to help create a balanced and harmonious peacefulness inside of you. The peace that fills you will eventually overflow into the world creating an interconnectedness that brings peace to all beings.
The Reiki principles are a wonderful framework to create a life centered around a peaceful heart. The principles ask us to be aware of our inner and outer emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. I don’t believe the principles ask us to be perfect, but instead ask us to work each day towards the goal of fulfilling each one. Essentially, we are being asked to be in the moment, to understand our emotions before we send them out into the world with negative consequences, to live a life of truth, to experience gratitude and to offer love. These are some of the same steps that you might be aware of through the concept of “raising your vibration”. Living the Reiki principles will take daily concerted effort but will eventually lead to a peaceful heart.
Maintaining a daily practice of self-care through giving Reiki to yourself is essential to cultivating a peace-filled heart. When you take the time to give Reiki to yourself you are making a commitment that tells your psyche that you are loved and that you matter. Your daily practice also helps maintain your energetic body by balancing your chakras and keeping your aura sealed. You are more readily able to accept peace when you are aligned. You will be in a place where you can radiate peace to others with a regular daily self-care practice.
Being in the moment is another benefit of daily Reiki practice. You are focused on the here and now when you give yourself Reiki. This helps you to not focus on the past or stress about the future. Being present in the moment is a mindfulness technique that brings a sense of calmness, and through that calmness you can allow the peace to freely flow. It’s hard to feel tranquil and harmonious when worried about the “what ifs”. Focusing on the here and now is another skill that requires practice but will lead to a peace-filled heart.
Through our work of offering Reiki to others, animals, and plants we are able to develop our empathy. Most of us chose Reiki because we were already empathetic. However, by offering Reiki, you are making connections with other living beings. You are allowing yourself to be open and aware of others’ needs. When we perform a Reiki session we are showing care for others. Caring creates an uplifting experience. Your Reiki practice fosters an interconnectedness. Channeling the energy creates a cosmic connection within yourself. You are experiencing the universe flowing through you. Recognizing that Reiki is a beautiful way, to help and to heal, brings peace.
Yes, Reiki will bring us a peaceful and peace-filled heart. This does require patience, fortitude, and daily work. By taking these steps you are laying the groundwork to allow the peace to take root and grow inside of you. Using Reiki to cultivate peace in your heart will allow the peace to fully bloom.
