Wax Scrying is my favorite form of divination. It’s not as commonly used as other tools, like tarot or pendulum. I find that it gives deep readings, more clarity, and lends itself to powerful imagery. Wax scrying is my first choice for divination readings.
Think of wax scrying as a blend of a crystal ball, water scrying, and reading tarot. It has aspects of all of these while also using the physical elements of fire, earth, water, and air. Scrying is using any reflective service to help one see and receive messages.
A wax reading first begins with the querent’s question. Once posed, specific candle colors are chosen for the reading. Candles are lit. A special Reiki attuned bowl and pitcher are set on the table, filled with water.
As a Reiki Master and Teacher, I also incorporate Reiki energy. As with all of my divination practices, I first cast a protective circle of white light around myself. This begins a time when I meditate and go into a trance state to focus on the question. I use incense, drum work, and the glowing fires of the candles.
After a good amount of time has passed, usually about thirty minutes, I then pour the water from the pitcher into the bowl. I then focus, again, on the question. At this time I begin channeling Reiki energy to the water, as this is the medium that will eventually hold the message. I focus not just on the querent’s question but also on sending Reiki for their highest good.
When the time is right, I take each candle, whisper the question one last time, send Reiki to the flame, and blow out the candle and pour the wax into the water.
Immediately symbols and images will begin to form on the surface. I watch the shapes, look at the way they interact, watch them move about in the water. I listen for their stories and open myself up to their messages.
This part of the process is a continuation of the trance because it is mesmerizing to watch the scene unfold. It’s like watching a play or movie.
I begin to take notes and watch the wax. I allow the story to fully unfold. This can take another half hour. There’s no rush in this style of reading. It takes as long as it needs and when it’s done there’s a knowing sensation. The protective circle of white protective energy is released.
Then it is time to take my notes and turn back to the question at hand. I prepare the answer, usually about two pages long for a wax reading and send it to the client.
Using Reiki with this form of divination creates a synergy that allows for a deeper connection to the client, the divine message, and spirit guides.
