“Happiness is a choice, not a result. Nothing will make you happy until you choose to be happy. No person will make you happy unless you decide to be happy. Your happiness will not come to you. It can only come from you.” -Ralph Marston.
How many times do we go about in our lives with a long list of expectations with attached unspoken emotions that weigh us down, while we tirelessly exude pretense of how good our life seems? At times we agree to live up to what is considered ‘normal’ or ‘agreeable’ mostly to others although it may seem “non-agreeable” to ourselves. We tend towards these ideas and adapt ways to accomplish things, whereas deep inside we are not settled within and we sense a gap between our souls and mind. These repetitive patterns lead to depression, self-sabotage eventually dis-ease thus giving away our power to others.
With changing times, it is vital to seek happiness within and leverage complementary tools to be able to live life to the fullest. When we use Reiki to self-heal, it provides a sense of protection, guidance, nurturing and courage to avoid or face the dark feelings. With Reiki as a self-healing tool, aspects of kindness, love and acceptance towards ourselves and others are reignited as we step into our power.
When you are around children or people who are happy, notice how contagious their happiness is! They instantaneously spread happiness over the entire space. Reflecting happiness about everything or nothing might sound unrealistic at times however when we are present with our being, we truly care about being happy. It is such an irony that all of us are born happy and then as we turn to be adults, happiness seems to get distant in our reality.
It is said that in the first six years, a child is like a sponge-bob actively absorbing their surroundings, like how their parents/guardians behave, react and perceive life. They imbibe imprints of those life skills and carry them into adulthood. This helps us understand the way our brains are wired since childhood. We replicate the reactions of our parents “thinking” that is how it is supposed to be!
Having had wonderful experiences with Reiki, I contemplated to use it to invite kindness and happiness into my life. The most frequent thing I started doing while giving Reiki to myself or others was envisioning the pink light, engulfing the Cho Ku Rei symbol around me and intending that only love, peace and harmony radiate through it. I also set 3 reminders in a day to consciously feel happy instead of allowing myself to be dragged into dense emotions. My Reiki-box has also helped me to have a swift transition with getting happy. Being happy is our true nature and so if we are feeling unhappy, it is because we have forgotten it or refuse to have it.
The first step towards changing anything is to acknowledge it.
Most of the times, we try hard to hide how we truly feel within for the fear of being excluded. Besides there are so many age-old norms around gender-based behaviors that hold people from acknowledging their emotions. The way Reiki works is it activates a sense of centeredness reviving our capacity to own our emotions. The gentleness of Reiki washes over a sense of peace and reassurance that we are a part of universal consciousness and happiness is our birth right. Reiki has our back at all times. With daily Reiki, we gain freedom from the unnecessary ties that tend to keep us stuck in the sadness. Another noticeable change that daily Reiki brings is it guides your body to stretch/ease/pump or jump which also enhances your mood.
The following basic Reiki routine will help anyone tune into their being-ness and reflect their inner light for the upliftment of everyone.
- Sit in a quiet comfortable space and close your eyes.
- Focus on how your breath flows, notice the speed, intensity, depth of each breath.
- State the attitude of gratitude towards Reiki and write in your minds eye the intention “I am happy and kind towards myself and others at all times and I make being happy my priority”.
- Connect with Reiki using Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen and wrap yourself in a pink light then draw a huge Cho Ku Rei symbol around you.
- Visualize happiness and kindness flowing towards everyone in the universe. Use Se He Ki as required.
- Flow Reiki till you feel a sense of completion and end the session, thanking Reiki.
If you find yourself in an overwhelming situation, please feel free to look for a Reiki practitioner who will be able to assist you with exploring Reiki to dissolve any blocks to happiness.
With dedicated practice, you will notice bursts of laughter, unexpected kindness by a stranger, more reasons to be happy and most importantly your life will transform into a heart throb happy ambassador of goodwill and cheer. Now isn’t that simple, using Reiki as a tool to assist you in being cheerful for no rhyme or reason?
