Being attuned to Reiki helps us to connect to the universe in a way that can be wonderful, we become more sensitive to the energy, feeling and vibration of others, individually and collectively. I am sure I am not alone in sensing collective human anguish and anxiety at the moment. About our politics, the environment, way of life and our future in general, but also see a lot of positive change and determination to forge new beginnings.
I hate to dwell on negativity so I won’t, but we must acknowledge how we feel. Change doesn’t happen when everyone is comfortable, change requires a level of discomfort to push it forward. It is only when we feel uncomfortable that we take steps to make change.
If you are feeling discomfort or anxiety about anything in the wider world, as well as using Reiki for self healing and distance healing, there are steps you can take to effect change and feel more in control. However, all this focus on what is wrong with the world and taking action can be draining and it is important to maintain a balance. Which is why, as well as a list of things we can do to effect positive change, here is also a list of things that you can do to recharge and find peace.
Make Positive Change
Be Positive – send positive thoughts and Reiki out with the intention that everything is resolved for the highest good.
Use Reiki – send distance healing for the world and any situations that you feel strongly about, for the highest good.
Vote – in political elections
Spend mindfully – spend your money, energy, time and focus mindfully. Consider where you think it deserves to be spent, on causes and businesses that align with your values and beliefs.
Campaign, March, Strike. Sign Petitions.
Vocalise – speak out about what worries you and why. Speak your truth with love and be prepared to listen too.
Educate yourself on the causes that resonate with you – knowledge is power!
Write to leaders in politics, community, and business to explain your concerns, suggest positive changes and request action.
Support charities that align with your values.
Make changes to your lifestyle so that you are living in alignment with your beliefs. Not only does this support your cause but also brings a sense of authenticity and harmony to your life. Repeating the Reiki Principals daily and meditating on them can really help bring your values into focus.
Be a role model – by creating positive change you are inspiring others to do the same.
Support others fighting for their cause.
Raise each other up.
“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” – Mahatma Gandhi
Create Balance, find peace
Use Reiki – for self-healing and to create moments of calm and peace of mind.
Take a break from news, social media, newspapers, etc. – yes it’s important to keep up to date but it’s also important to give yourself a rest.
Create a sanctuary – Have at least an hour at the end of the day where you don’t read or talk about anything that causes you to feel wound up or anxious. It is so much harder to relax and sleep if you have just read about or discussed a topic that fuels your discomfort. Consider banning all such talk from the bedroom and for at least an hour before bed.
Immerse yourself in nature – This recharges you and nourishes your soul.
Focus on positive changes you can and will make instead of wasting your energy arguing with someone who’s mind you will never change.
Remind yourself of all that is good in the world. Make a list or create a pin board as a visual reminder if it helps.
Choose a few causes – we can’t all fight every battle.
Practice gratitude – List three things that you are grateful for at the beginning or end of the day. Keeping a gratitude journal can be a really positive action.
Focus on the positives of making positive change – including meeting like minded people, the great atmosphere at marches or meetings, the great feedback, rewarding changes, the kindness and compassion you get to witness in others.
Never think that you are not making a difference or that there’s no point in taking action or making changes because no one else does. Millions of small changes = big change.
Know that you are part of something big and wonderful, there are others out there who feel exactly the same as you. Beginning to acknowledge your discomfort and act on it will draw you to your tribe; other likeminded people who you feel at home with.
Support others who are feeling low and burnt out.
Build a ‘toolkit’ of strategies to boost your wellbeing, from a range including: rest, exercise, healthy food, drinking plenty of water, audio meditations to listen to, yoga stretches, Reiki self healing, mindful breathing, talking to a loved one, laughing, being outdoors, mindful colouring and self care. Turn to these tools whenever you need to.
Take pride in knowing that all the small actions and changes you make towards positive change are making a difference.
Repeat the Reiki Principles – as a way of staying focused on your values.
Remember you’re inspiring others. You are acting from your heart and by doing so you are giving permission for others to do the same.
Raise each other up.
“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.” Socrates
