The High Priestess is the embodiment of the Feminine Energy. She represents balance and the ability to embrace the law of duality. She is the veil that stands between you and the deeper depths of your psyche. Only those who understand this and have been in practice of embracing the shadow aspects of themselves are allowed a peek. Behind the veil lies access to the greater truths of the Universe: information that can bring about change and healing.
Not everyone can enter this realm. Only those with the purity and understanding of higher truths, who are in alignment with the laws of peace and harmony can access the information that the High Priestess holds. The strength of the high priestess lies in her ability to discern and separate the truth from everything else. She is mysterious, for she holds within her knowledge that leads to self-transformation. Accessing the Energy of “The High Priestess”
The greatest strength of “THE HIGH PRIESTESS” is her ability to maintain equanimity which allows her to dissociate from the mind-body matrix and stay rooted in her true authenticity. The ability to be equanimous also grants her the ability to have access to information that is not normally available during normal waking states. All input that the mind receives is translated into sensations in the body. The practice of being non-responsive to the arising sensations develops the character of equanimity. This technique was taught and practiced by all the enlightened beings and has been taught in different variations. Being equanimous brings the control back to us rather than handing it over to the mind, allowing us to respond to situations rather than reacting to them.
Ways to Develop Equanimity
• BECOME AWARE OF SITUATIONS THAT PUT YOU OFF BALANCE
There will definitely be times during the day when you are off alignment due to various reasons but a big part of developing this skill is the awareness to realize when you are out of alignment. For example, the sooner you become aware that you are angry, the sooner you can bring yourself back into alignment, rather than being consumed by the anger.
• MEDITATE EVERYDAY
Meditation increases our awareness and the more aware we become, the easier it is to notice the difference between ‘I am angry’ and ‘I am feeling angry’. It gives you the ability to respond rather than react to situations.
• NOTICE THE BREATH
The breath is a mirror to the mind. Anytime you are in or out of alignment your breath will reflect that. So, the quickest way to get into a state of equanimity is to have awareness of your breath, especially during situations of stress. Simply observe your breath and as you do so it will return to its normal pattern.
• PRACTICE OBSERVATION
Start with something that you are neutral toward and simply observe that. Every time a thought arises, simply notice it, let it go, and return to observing. As you get better at this, you can try observing things that create an emotional charge in you. The trick is to remain neutral and simply observe.
• GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK
We are constantly exposed to so much sensory input every day. Find a quiet space for yourself, do things that relax you, and help the mind process and function better.
• DECLUTTER YOUR MIND AND YOUR ENVIRONMENT
Your environment reflects your mental state, and your mental state reflects your state of being. Remove yourself from all things that zap your energy. Declutter your environment from all things that create confusion and chaos.
