My fourth article on the Reiki Principles focusses on the Principle “I will earn my living honestly”. I add the words ‘and care for Mother earth’ when I repeat them as part of my daily practice. Looking after our planet is important to me, so I wanted to acknowledge that and remind myself daily. It also seems to fit with this principle as it is tied up with living authentically and working towards a better world.
Truth can often be felt in the Solar Plexus or that ‘gut feeling’, trust your instincts, they’re rarely wrong. Opening your Third Eye can help you to see the truth in situations. Sending Reiki to your Third Eye and Solar Plexus Chakra can help to rebalance this principle and integrate it into your life.
The most important person to be honest with is yourself. Only you know how you feel and there is true freedom in living your life as you wish, speaking your truth and walking your own path with grace and dignity.
Living authentically and being yourself is a form of honesty. Speaking your truth is honest and as long as it is done with love and respect, is a good thing. Integrity is also linked to honesty and a good value to have in all areas of life, not just work.
In today’s corporate world lying and backstabbing is sadly common as people claw their way up the competitive career ladder. Unfortunately, business is not always conducted in ways that are ethical, fair or good for our planet and working for a company that acts in ways contrary to your beliefs can bring you down, emotionally and spiritually. This, as we know could create blockages in your energy field and lead to physical issues too.
If you find yourself in this situation you can use Reiki self-healing, grounding and protecting techniques to help you get through the workday. You might also find it helpful to use Reiki to cleanse and raise the vibration of the energy in your working space and any communal areas that you feel need it.
There are many ways to do this but a simple way is to channel Reiki into the room with the intention to clear it of negative energy and raise the vibration. Visualise the Reiki filling the room with its beautiful light and seal it by drawing Cho Ku Rei symbols on each wall, window, and door. I like to ask St Germain and the violet flame to transmute any ‘negative’ energy that is being cleared into pure, healing love and light for the highest good.
As we’re being honest, let’s admit that we work because we need to earn money. Working and being paid is an energy exchange, but earning your living honestly does not just have to be hard toil that you find diminishing and disheartening.
We are often conditioned to think that money should be hard earned and can resent others who seem to come by it easily. We link it to our self-worth so can feel we don’t deserve it and we also link it to our self-image and would hate to be thought of as greedy or mercenary so we create blocks to abundance that way too.
Money in itself is an energy that flows in, through and out of our lives in a constant cycle. We receive money in exchange for our work, time and effort and we give it away in exchange for things we need and want. Like any other energy that flows through our lives, having blocks about it (in the form of judgements or fears or feeling guilt or frustration that our work is not in alignment with our beliefs), will hinder its flow.
Turning up every day to work in an environment that drains your energy can be soul destroying. ‘Earning your living honestly’ isn’t purely about being honest within the work environment and not even just about finding work that aligns with your beliefs and values, but also about living your ‘soul purpose’. Finding a job that allows you to use your natural gifts, where you can express yourself and the ‘work’ is actually your true calling is immensely gratifying. Doing the job that you feel you were born to do helps you to live more authentically, expressing who you really are; living your truth.
It’s not always possible to make big changes to your work situation quickly but self-healing with Reiki and focussing on the Reiki Principles can support you through the process and help you to bring about positive change. Using Reiki to raise your vibration can mean that your vibration is aligned with what you want to attract, making it more easy for you to manifest the life you want and deserve.
You can create a vision board with images and words symbolising what you would like your work life to be, and/or list any steps you need to take to get there. Then draw the Reiki symbols that you feel are appropriate onto it and infuse it with Reiki energy. You could spend a little time each day visualising the changes happening and use Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen to send Reiki into your future to smooth the way.
Reiki can be a catalyst for huge positive change in your life. With regular practice of channeling Reiki, self-healing, meditating and focussing on its positive principles Reiki’s gentle power touches every area of your life. I know it’s not a coincidence and I am immensely grateful that since embracing Reiki, my work life has changed to one that I love and find fulfilling.
One of the many beautiful gifts of Reiki is that it gives us a wonderful way to live out this principle.
