Article by Tammy Hatherill, Reiki Master
In this day and age with the Internet and Facebook, people are constantly being bombarded with ads for this and that and it can become very overwhelming. A big thing I’ve noticed is the constant ads for business development and free courses to learn about webinars, promotions, and creating the perfect videos and so forth, which you sign up to and then get hammered to buy into bigger courses and or products. It’s so overwhelming.
A colleague of mine has recently been through a horrific experience through completing one of these courses online, where she called on my assistance to help her with Reiki. Billy-Jo was ‘friended’ by many of the participants and was enjoying getting to know them and felt a lovely strong connection. One of her new acquaintances was a business coach, who friended her and was interacting well and lovingly and it soon moved into conversations about business growth and development and after being friendly for a while, my colleague was convinced by this person to buy into a course worth $2997. She was offered another course worth $2000 if my friend was able to join up another person, which she did. Not only that my colleague was actually charged $3000 on her credit card.
Alarm bells began to ring when the course was all done via Facebook with unprofessional videos used, with doors open in the background, messy surrounds, phones ringing, the woman’s computer battery dying and all sorts of things that for $2997 was not acceptable. However, she trusted things would improve and Billy-Jo is so caring that she thought she’d give the benefit of the doubt.
When it got too overwhelming for Billy-Jo, she actually voiced her concerns about the unprofessionalism and the format it, with students being confused and not truly understanding what was happening or where to find information. The so called ‘course’ was all over the place and so my friend spoke up. From her honesty, this new ‘friend’ of hers began to attack her online and did not process any of the constructive feedback on how the so-called course was being presented for the money paid. The woman was far to invested in defending her position that to listen and actually learn something from the feedback of a student.
Billy-Jo asked for a refund and was told there was no refund policy. It was then she realized she’d never signed a contract, nor sighted a terms and conditions document, nor was directed to any of these things. The unprofessionalism continued and my colleague felt sick and stupid for falling victim to a predator.
On request, I stepped in and gave my colleague Reiki and also I gave the situation Reiki by writing it down on a piece of paper and placing into a box. I then held the box and gave it a physical healing, knowing whatever happened was for the highest good for Billy-Jo. All settled down for a week until this ‘business coach’ began teaching her methods of attracting clients.
The methods she is teaching students, is to join facebook groups of a similar nature to what a client does for their own business, and ‘friend’ people from these groups… she invites people to join her own group and gives them ‘freebies’ or ‘tasters’ of what is on offer, then moves into asking them to join up to a product or service which they pay for.
This method may be very well and good for some but my colleague was sick to the stomach having worked with predators who groom their victims before attacking. Billy-Jo then realized this is exactly what happened to her. Her new friend was not a friend or interested in her whatsoever apart from what she could get from her in terms of a course which was supposed to cost $2997. My colleague felt violated, abused and stupid for falling for someone who had obviously groomed her and manipulated her into buying a product through sneaky methods.
More Reiki was given. When Billy-Jo spoke up again about this method of attracting clients, being against her ethics and why she found it unacceptable, the Business-Coach attempted to turn the tables and say that ‘Billy-Jo’ was negative and causing other students issues with her negative comments and that all her comments would be deleted if they were.
Billy-Jo was threatened with removal from the group and was ultimately booted out.
All attempts to have her money returned have fallen on deaf ears. Two legal letters have been sent and this woman, this friend, this supposed business coach is not doing the right thing, even though she says all the time ‘it’s never about the money’ and yet she is refusing to refund my colleague the money even though Billy-Jo says she’s happy to only receive $2500 refunded out of the $3000 paid because she’s done three weeks with this woman, but would not do four months with her under any circumstances.
Ultimately the situation has now escalated into Australian Consumer Affairs becoming involved. It’s a sad situation for Billy-Jo and may be an expensive lesson.
What I have done is send Reiki to Billy-Jo and again to the situation. I trust whatever the outcome, if she receives her money back or does not receive the money back, the learnings will be of the highest good. Reiki doesn’t necessarily assist a person to get what they want (like money owed) but does help us to learn the lessons we need through delivery what is best for our highest good.
I’m not sure how this situation will work out, however, Reiki is being sent daily to Billy-Jo who really needs it and even to the ‘business-coach’ who has done the wrong and immoral things (through the eyes of Billy-Jo).
Please, whatever situation you find yourself in or a friend finds themselves in, Reiki can be used to help and assist. Being mindful Reiki brings about what is best for the highest good and may not be what you are expecting or wanting.
