Reiki and Release

Article by Stephen Parato

To most people, Reiki is not primarily thought of as a method of release. Yet one of the most healing aspects of Reiki is its ability to release energy blockages and facilitate a healthy circulation of ki (life force energy).

The removal of energy blockages has been a common theme throughout my Reiki practice. It began during the first Reiki session I ever received. As soon as the practitioner put her hands on my abdomen, it enlivened with movement and noise, as if everything was enabled to just flow again. Though the effect seemed solely physical, through conversation with the practitioner and my experiences afterward I found that it was actually the removal of some creative blockages as well.

Oftentimes, we’re not even consciously aware of the exact blockages that are removed. This is because Reiki is subtle and works on the energetic level. And subtle doesn’t mean that it’s ineffective. Reiki can potentially release blockages associated with fears, traumas or any other disharmonious emotions we’re holding onto.

Release through Reiki feels different for everyone, as everyone experiences Reiki in unique way. There might be tingling sensations, like something is dissipating away, or movement, like the moving of stagnant energy I experienced.

Regardless of the sensations you experience, here are some telltale signs that you’ve released or let go of something:

  • You feel lighter (like a weight has been lifted)
  • You feel clearer on every level (physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually)
  • You feel less stagnant
  • You feel more relaxed and harbor less tension
  • You have less physical pain or discomfort
  • You feel more open, emotionally and spiritually
  • You’re less fearful

It’s vitally important to release because repressed emotions can wreak havoc on every level of our being. Reiki can be a great tool for this, but even simple things like singing, dancing or any form of creative expression can be healing when done consistently.

Let your energy flow.

Release into love.
