In Geshe Michael Roach’s book How Yoga Works, Miss Friday teaches the Captain a little trick that will help him stick to his daily yoga schedule. We can use the same incentive to stick to our daily Reiki practice.
As any Master Teacher will tell you, in order for Reiki to be effective, you have to practice daily self-healing. The self-healing is the cornerstone of Reiki, the foundation upon which everything else will be built. Your life will not change and you will never experience the amazing benefits of Reiki unless you commit to a daily practice.
In my experience though, more than 90%, probably even more than 99%, of the people attuned to Reiki do not practice daily. Most people start off with great enthusiasm and keep up the daily practice for a few days, or maybe a few weeks. And then they skip a day, and later on more days, and eventually stop practicing altogether.
I believe this is because you lack proper motivation to practice. When you get down to it, you tend to think of all the benefits your practice will bring you. How it will heal your health, how it will raise your vibration, how it will help you with your financial or romantic life etc. This motivation is not enough though – and the reason is that it’s a selfish motivation. I will get healed, I will have abundance, etc. While this motivation will pump your ego and keep you going for a week or two, it lacks the deeper meaning that is needed to go at it as the years and decades pass and as you progress slowly on your spiritual path.
So how to get the deeper meaning that will help you keep going?
- Think of someone who is suffering now. Someone close to you who has a problem, maybe someone who’s been having this problem for years.
- Think that if you succeed with Reiki, if you fix your problems with the help of Reiki, they will see that it works and they will be inspired to try it as well and fix their own problems too. Their life will change, happiness and light will fill it.
- So you see, it is not for yourself that you have to practice daily Reiki. It is for them, so that they too can see that it really does work, and so that they get inspiration and start on their own healing journey.
- When the time comes and you feel like skipping a day, think of your friend, child, or parent – and do it for them.
If you can find more than one person who is, in a way, waiting to see if Reiki really does work for you, then that’s even better.

Reiki rays is the one of the best website on reiki I have ever come across. This website has enhanced my understanding and practice of reiki. I feel so much of appreciation and gratitude for all that I have learnt here.
This site has been a boon to reiki practitioners across the globe. I have come across many good healers from here and have developed interest in loads of other therapies like crystals, switch words, tarots etc..Keep up the fabulous work 🙂
