Improve Your Quality of Life with the Power of Rituals

All life is energy and Reiki energy has long enjoyed a hand in hand relationship with magick. If you are a Reiki practitioner you already know how healing energy can transform your life. What you may not know (or fully appreciate) is that combining rituals with Reiki can influence the vibrations that support you, surround you, and make up your everyday existence. Incorporating rituals into your practice will allow you to direct energy with strong intention to attract health, career opportunities, harmonious relationships and other desirable life circumstances.

Wikipedia defines ritual as: “a sequence of activities involving gestures, words, and objects, performed in a sequestered place, and performed according to set sequence.”

Rituals can involve lighting specially chosen candles, using essential oils, specific herbs or natural items such as feathers or shells, crystals, even blue cornmeal or tobacco. A ritual includes setting sacred space and speaking a request out loud. It can be as simple or as complex as you wish. It can take place indoors or outdoors, in solitary or with a friend or friends.

Use rituals for:

• Protection
• Release
• Health
• Good fortune or abundance
• Healing relationships or work circumstances
• Love
• Money
• Fertility

Rituals can be done on a day of your choosing or specifically coordinated with the phases of the moon or other events. And while you may want to incorporate items that have special meaning to you, there is no need to invest in specific tools or magical implements. Remember the power behind a ritual is not just all the lovely ingredients, but is really you. Your ritual is fueled by your strong intent and the belief you hold that your request will be heard and responded to by the universal powers.

Put some thought into creating your ritual. What is the desired result? Do you want your home or your loved ones protected against negativity? Are you looking for abundance or advancement at work? If you are looking at the list and saying, “Yes, yes and yes,” you will need to narrow it down. Choose one desire to focus on and put together some items to support your request. Remember, just as when you are sending Reiki to someone, you want permission to perform a ritual on behalf of another. We do not want to be meddling in the lives of others when it may not be their desire to change themselves or their circumstances. Also, be vigilant about only making requests to bring about positive change. This ensures your protection and that you are sincerely following the path of light and love.

You can create your own ritual using the tools of your choice and your own words. After all, the power resides with you and your intention. If you are more comfortable following directions created by others, there are many resources both in books and on line that can provide you with wording and line by line instructions.

Do you have a relationship with the elements? Air, water, earth and fire? How about the four directions, north, south, east and west. A special god, goddess, spirit animal or angel you like to work with? Call in whatever power you feel drawn to and ask them to support, protect and guide you.

Feel like you might spend hours and hours doing rituals and making requests? Fear not, one of the wonderful things about magick and rituals is their inherit power to bring about change. For example, you do not have to do a money ritual once a week or even once a month. Once a ritual has been created you can release responsibility for it and simply allow it to simmer and build. Repeating it too soon reveals a lack of belief in its power.

Now you have the basic tools to use ritual to improve your life and circumstances. You hold the power to change your life for the better.
