Once people learn level 2, their curiosity is usually aroused. They’ve realised by now that not all things are as they seem, and many things exist outside what we consider ‘normal’. This is usually when people get excited about all things psychic and para normal.
I don’t believe much in right or wrong, but every action has its repercussions, and must be taken with that awareness. The benefits of crystal healing are very commonly spoken of. The downside, not so often. Some aspects of crystal healing go completely un-noticed.
Yes, they can be Magical
If you are walking in the mountains, and find a beautiful crystal on your path, that is a gift from mother earth. If you notice it and are captivated by it, you are meant to receive it, and it will bring you deep healing, probably in ways that you haven’t yet imagined. But this isn’t really how we use crystals today, is it?
Wounded Mountains, Homeless Beings
Most of the crystals we use are taken from the heart of the earth. Mountains are cut, mutilated and sliced, so that they can extract pieces of stone that healers deem precious. It is a growing demand, very profitable for the sellers. The more you buy, the more mountains are cut, disfiguring the earth some more.
So many healers prefer being vegetarian, but nobody thinks of all the birds and animals that died homeless because the entire forest was uprooted to make a healing session more powerful. All this, so that a few people can feel better about themselves. Is it really worth it? Is this a price you are willing to pay?
It is a simple question in my heart. How can something that caused our mother earth pain, bring us long term joy? Things always seem to work for a short while. But what after that?
The Very Real Danger
There are a few people I know – just a few, who use crystals right. For most part, I have observed that people with a dependent personality buy crystals in the hope that crystals will do for them something that their own healing practice is not.
In many cases, I have found that people do not cleanse their crystals enough, and this is extremely dangerous if one lives in a disturbed household or if one is some sort of healer. In more than once instance I have found tarot readers and healers to have a house full of entities because every time an entity came in, it found a ‘house’ – a crystal – available. Some were even sleeping with crystals right next to their pillows, and had started displaying extreme mood swings and out-of-character behaviour. When asked to clear their house of crystals and do a thorough cleansing, there was an immediate, drastic improvement.
YOU are a crystal
What is a crystal? It is a piece of stone that takes energy from the universe, and transmits it to its surroundings. Well, what is a Reiki channel? You only need crystals if you aren’t focused on being a channel yourself. How else would you find a 3 inch piece of stone more effective than a 5 foot high, ‘living’ being?
We are conditioned to believe in our weaknesses, and to depend on external objects to bring us some relief, or some joy. It is always hard to believe that your bliss lies within you. But how long before we are willing to take that leap of faith?
Introspect…
A cursory look at man’s relationship with earth will show that the earth is in a state of disrepair today because man stopped treating the earth as a part of his self, but as a thing to be used. Are we being any different when we use crystals?

Not sure how to reply to this! I don’t want to be negative about your article so I will have to camp on that for a while.
I am with you on this Lisa. I have been guided by my guides to use crystals in my healing practice. No one being, whether it be human, animal, plant or crystal, can be all that is needed for any one act. We as healers are a channel of the Universal energy. We bring our own inert energy to each session though, as do the crystals and the oils from plants that are used. If you connect with these beautiful Divine creations you will come to understand they each have their own spirit and path. I am honored to have them join in my healing sessions and offer them my gratitude each time they do. Blessed be.
Thank you for your comment anyway Lisa 🙂 yes we each have our own views and experiences. Seeing a defaced mountain was the last straw for me, but we do destroy the planet in many other ways too, our lifestyles are just wired that way.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of crystals
Dear Ashwita, I respect your thoughts, but then again the streets you walk have been taken from Mother Earth. Does that mean you are walking no more? And so the veg we eat, the clothes we wear. If people have changes of mood or so, again, it is because of human misuse, not the crystals. I agree that mining for them hurts the planet, but when polished, charged and activated, they can be placed in the correct areas, such as gardens, near trees or animals, they bring back the healing we took to have them. These are just my thoughts, nothing more.
I am a crystal healer with Reiki for pets and people. Take care.
It’s interesting, Ashwita, I have recently come to this same conclusion myself. Not only about crystals, but about excessively harvested plants used for healers these days, such as for essential oils. It feels off to me and my heart doesn’t feel good about it, knowing what Mother Earth is suffering for our greed–and that is what it is–greed. And all greed comes from a feeling of separation and lack of trust in our own connection to Source within ourselves. I have decided not to purchase anymore crystals, but to love the stones that simply come to me. I will listen closely to find what’s in my heart about keeping the ones I have now. Some feel like dear friends and will surely stay with me. Others may belong elsewhere.
Thank you for your comment Angie, yes that is what I also follow 🙂
Ouch…I have never looked at my stones this way. I’m not sure I could become a vegetarian overnight but I sure will be more conscious the next time i consider a purchase.
That was the objective of this post 🙂 I thought well, even if one person changes their mind, it is enough. Thank you for being that one person
Lots of crystals are just put aside, discarded as rubble while searching for greater things, so I think it is meant for these to be used to heal.
Thanks for your input Debbie!
Crystals don’t attract entities. The people using them might if they don’t cleanse their own space and self. Divination is connecting with the spiritual realm and that’s were things can go wrong. I do agree its sad that there is over mining of crystals. It’s like pulling mother earth’s teeth out.
Ah, I didn’t think of it that way, and you’re probably right. I found all these problems with ‘healers’ of one kind or another, so what you say is most likely true. Thanks for that!
How is it that we become vegetarian because anything else is hurting another being but eating the plants (which is killing them also) is perfectly ok? Where does this philosophy stop?
I’m not so sure it is about the philosophy, but the attempt to reduce one’s impact to the bare minimum. Plants have a lower level of consciousness and feel much less pain than animals when killed – and then, you only kill a plant when you eat it whole, root and all, which is not always the care. Ecologically also being vegetarian is the best option, so we might want to adopt it if we have kids and want to contribute to leaving them a teeny bit better earth.
As for crystals, buying them in the name of consumerism – after all, this is what most humans do. But in the name of spirituality, that is something which is painful for me. We all have needs – we need to uproot a forest (directly or indirectly) to build a house to live in. Food is a need. Crystals are not a need.
I can’t say I disagree with information pertained to this article. It is certainly cause for great concern that we are mining crystals to such a huge extent that it is destroying our beautiful planet. However, before we judge those using crystals, it is important to know that CO2 and other emissions are killing our oceans – the oceans are dying in our time and by 2048 all our fisheries will be dead: the lungs and arteries of the earth. Also greenhouse emissions from livestock is 50% greater than transport, (car’s, trains, ships, planes trucks etc.) put together. According to the Saint James Ethic Centre and The Wheeler Centre if everyone ate a western diet we would want 2 planet earth’s…and we only have one…and she is dying. We are ALL contributing to the destruction of planet earth in one way or another…eating meat, driving cars, using paper, wi-fi, mobile phones etc. We all need resources from the earth in some form or another to live as a human. However, we are solely responsible to take only the minimum for our absolute needs, such as a modest plant based diet (that does not destroy the earth), along with ensuring the products we buy on a daily basis have not contributed to any form of harm, destruction, or cruelty to another living being. As humans evolve we will eventually have no need for anything outside of ourselves to ‘make us feel better’. However, we are far from there yet. In the meantime we can become consciously aware in our daily activities of how WE can do our bit to make this world a better place, for ourselves, mother earth and other sentient beings. Our duty is to tend to the garden and all its inhabitants. This is our duty.
How does one clear their crystals? I’m afraid I might have the entity problem. This resonates with me. Thanks! ????
You can ask the Angels and Arch Angels to clear and charge them, cover them in sea salt for 24 hours, Reiki them, place them on top of a large piece of Selenite, or even smudge them with sage and sweetgrass. After cleasing them, be sure to charge them using either the sun, full or new moon, Reiki, The Creator, or the Angels.
Sorry about the delay in response Ashley, I’ve been away traveling. Liana puts it perfectly. Salt, sage and the full moon are my preferred methods.
I never looked in that way when I buy my crystals as a complement with my Reiki sessions. They are a beautiful gift from nature to us to use them in that way, The only way I agree with you is when people buy crystals for luxury or fashion purposes only, I think its the wrong way to use a crystal and creates an imbalance on earth as they are on earth for another purpose.
Thank you for your comment. Yes, we all draw a line somewhere, it just varies. Like in some places in China, people kill tigers because the tiger’s tooth has special medicinal value. Most of us put human welfare and health above the earth and it’s other inhabitants, that is a natural tendency.
Dear Madam Ashwita
You have given a new insight to us with this article, I have started telling people about this aspect also and to me it seems very logical.
Thank you
Regards
Neelam
Thank you Neelam 🙂
Here’s my thought: While I do respect what you have to say, I feel like instead of coming from a place of love and light, which we who are attuned to reiki are guided to do, you are making it sound like we should feel guilt and shame for utilizing the tools that our Creator provided us with. Reiki is about removing the “perceived” darkness/negativity out of life and allowing the energy of love and light to shine through and crystals make wonderful companions to do so. So, I’m sorry that you have such a fearful and angry outlook on this issue and hope that you will transform your perspective into one of positivity, love and light!
Thank you for your input Katie 🙂 God bless you too.
It is not a fearful, guilty outlook, it is reality as to what humans are doing the planet. Erosion, damage to the environment and such is happening on many planes (for example, oil drilling is like sucking out the oils in a human’s body which are necessary for lubrication and not replacing them…that human start to have health issues; if we think of the planet as a living being, I think we would treat her with more respect. The ideas of pulling the earth’s teeth is a great analogy. Her waterways are her veins and we are polluting them with sludge, trash and toxins. Pesticides and herbicides are polluting the land, cells, lungs of the land, creating a dying earth. Like a dog shaking off water, she will try to “shake off” what she can with earthquakes, tsunamis and such but, we are, as a modern species, weighing her down. This is not in fear, but in respect to this lovely gift of a planet that we live on. Greed, more-is-better, big business is the name of the game. In the 60’s and 70’s, there was much concern over the same issues that are rampant today. The “things” like crystals, stones, herbs, vitamins, sound, color and such come from outside the self. The things are not necessary (but, of course can be helpful). We really do have the pharmacology inside the body to heal thyself. Trust thyself. As a healer, those tools/things are not necessary. I love to use Jesus and Buddha as the ultimate healers….They didn’t use many tools but, in teachings, love and hands on. I love to challenge my clients thinking and love to look at both sides of an issue. I hope to have challenged how you view the planet, life and healing. Love and Light to you all. 🙂
Thank you Cindy for such a powerful and insightful addition to the debate. Namaste.
I agree with Katie… you sound very angry and negative ! I am a Reiki practitioner and a crystal healer and both have there place within the healing industry. Also, FYI ~ Crystal healings were done Many many years before anyone ever heard of reiki, I hate to be negative but your tone in this article, to me, seems like you put yourself on a high horse and for me, that’s a big turn off. I would never go to you for advice or anything else… And I feel with your attitude you cast a dark cloud on the Reiki industry.
Wow, Ben, with all due respect, your response to Ashwita is very angry and negative, using your own words. And « casting a dark cloud on the Reiki industry » … a little dramatic, I would think. It is in your mind, she was offering her opinion. What did it trigger in you that you answered that way? Whether I agree or not, this article makes me reflect about consumerism, including so-called spiritual tools, and how I too often look outside for sources of strength and solace.
An interesting article and something I have thought about myself although I do have a home full of crystals. I guess there is a wider issue here of personal responsibility. Like many, I aspire to a life that is honest and thought through and yet I know that my simple lifestyle is way beyond the means of many people on this planet. Meanwhile, the more typical western lifestyle is most definitely unsustainable and would cause impossible damage if adopted by all. So I suppose we each focus on what we feel really matters allied with what changes we feel we can make. My personal “issues” are population growth and animal farming. If we wish to defend Mother Earth and its diversity I believe we cannot sustain the present population growth and yet I know many who would defend their “right” to have several children. Likewise animal farming. Leaving to one side the cruelty inherent in the cultivation of meat and milk, it is now recognised that intensive animal farming contributes 28% of global warming. So where do we stack crystals (which I use and love) along side these major issues and how do we make our own personal choices with integrity? I wish I had the answers!
Deep insight Simon. Yes of course you are right. Gemstones are used widely as jewelry as well, we have taken it as our birthright to deface, use and abuse the earth, and we all do it in some way or the other, to put it very mildly. It just pains me a little more when it is being done in the name of spirituality. That’s why this post, it is more meant to tell everyone – do it, but be aware of the impact.
Hello Everyone!
I’m here to give you all a gentle reminder that we create our realities. Instead of claiming all these issues, how about we focus more on what we want and our highest ideals. I know it is challenging, but we all have to try and project the solution, instead of the problem, even in things like comment sections. We are all aligned here, whether we have the same opinion or not, and thank goodness for that, so let’s not tear the writer to pieces for a different perspective they are sharing with us, (there was also the “upside” article let us keep that in mind), and let’s take it for what it is, perspective and contrasting opinion (when taken in conjunction with the “upside of crystals” article); the article never claimed to be truth, that we already know deep within us. Focus on what we want, not what we don’t want. Want change? Be the change and THINK the change and live the change for YOU. Let’s try and perpetuate solutions together, instead of our old problems that I believe and feel we are overcoming. It’s hard in our third dimensional experience to lift ourselves out of what is immediately seen. Love and Light to you all.
Sarah
(P.S. Please always keep in mind that nature teaches us that contrast is a wonderful thing, and a lifeblood. The oceans turn because of such drastic changes from warm to cold water, our earth gets watered and life grows from her soils from opposite pressures and temperatures of the atmosphere. Without these sometimes even violent events, we and all other life would perish. It seems everywhere we look the very basis is contrast, and learning to achieve balance together somewhere in the middle. That is our way to infinity. God blesses our differing realities, altogether making one very complete truth in God and the Universe.)
Wise words Sarah 🙂 the response has been much nicer than I expected actually 😀 it is always hard shining light on the aspects no one want to see.
Yes, Sarah, A very wonderful perspective and insight. Balance!
Crystals are used widely for healing purpose. But they often overlook the fact that their crystal too needs cleansing. Being in different situations, surrounded by different types of energies, and so on, the crystals develop negative energies, which is never good for them. And when the same stone is cleansed properly, it starts working magically again. Although different stones need different treatments, yet you can try the natural ones like keeping them in full moonlight.
Thank you Lily!
A very worthy point you make here Ashwita, thank you. This makes me want to hold onto the raw crystals I found all around a road making project and waterfall area (already there to a degree) which will be for public use I believe still. If there was more of a market here on Phuket island, I’m sure they would be overdoing it in many places here as well. I intend to have some made into objects useful to me but still have not identified all of them and their properties yet. Namaste’
Wow, sounds like a wonderful idea, Chris, good luck with that!
This is a wonderful article, Ashwita . I thank you for bringing to light something I’d never considered – that demand for cystals is leading to over-mining. Timing is uncanny, because just 2 hours ago I’d ordered some tumbled stones for use in healing . When I read the article and it resonated with me , I knew it was a special message and I canceled the order in time . I will use whatever I already have and that comes to me naturally but won’t buy any. Thanks again! Jayashree
Wow, thanks for sharing this Jayashree 🙂
LOL! Thank you for putting this out there! I’ve been saying this for decades, and I agree with you so wholeheartedly that I won’t teach a Crystal Healing class until the student has completed four, six-week long “basic” classes to bring them up to speed with working with crystals in a mindful manner. (A Meditation 1 class, where they learn to own their space and clear their energy and the energy of objects; Med II, where they begin to become aware of how to create with energy and learn that they’re not alone in the Universe; Healing I, where they begin to consciously communicate with Out-of-Body-Beings using their clairvoyance and clairaudience, forming a conscious alliance with an out-of-body healing guide and learn to consciously clear energy from other people’s space; and Healing II, where they begin to work with healing guides to impact the health of the physical body.)
Crystals can be powerful allies, but folks often forget that they’re also conscious and have their own agendas. I’ve found in my work that the relationship works best when you and your mineral allies are in conscious agreement about what kind of work is being undertaken. It also often slips people’s minds that, when left to their own devices, quartz crystals in particular are amplifiers, and if they’re unwittingly placed in an environment where the residents are focused on discordant thought, such as a mental health facility or a trauma unit in a hospital, the energy they radiate can quickly shift from being an asset to being a stumbling block. Such crystals need to be cleaned weekly and given a “resting” period in a more neutral environment (preferable outdoors in nature), where their handler helps re-charge and re-focus them in a direction that’s beneficial to the health facility environment they’re being asked to support.
I also find that it’s good to have clear contracts with mineral allies, and to be ready to let them go when they want to move on. I once dropped $150 on a gorgeous chunk of Ethiopian opal rough– chocolate brown with deep red fire–even though the piece told me clearly “I am not for you,” even as it demanded, “BUY ME!” Two days later a client I was working with was drawn to the opal like a magnet, and was loathe to put it down when her session ended. She asked how much it cost, but couldn’t afford to purchase it from me. The stone had other ideas–it was giving me the psychic equivalent of an elbow in the ribs, saying, “I’m HERS! I’m here to work with HER!!!” So…I gave it to her. It was kinda sweet, actually…like sending someone home with a happy puppy.
With regards to the rampant mining issues…answering that question is too big for me. That’s the Creator’s bailiwick–but I have total faith that God knows the big plan better than I ever could. I have to believe that life is evolving the way it is for a reason. Perhaps folks seeking crystals and rocks for purely financial gain (not that there’s anything intrinsically wrong with financial gain) will help disseminate the mineral vibration into regional markets at an unprecedented rate and bring about an accelerated level of spiritual growth in the world. I find it delightful that kids these days can find rocks and crystals within miles of their homes that I had to search for for decades.
For myself, I ask for guidance in being directed to the mineral companions who are intending to work with me and my students, and have found stones coming to me in amazing ways. Some have been mistreated and come to me for healing. Some I’ve actually taken back out into nature and re-buried, to give them back to the earth and soothe their energy. But some come to me raring to go and ready to play. So I ask, and i listen, and I take action in the direction of my inner compass. And I try not to be jangled by the appearance of discord. The earth is waaaay more powerful than I am, and the Source of all things is at the helm. To quote Abraham, “All is well.”
That’s a beautiful story Judi, yes I’ve experienced ‘the call’ too in a few instances. Then there were people who felt guided to give me things as well. I then started to work very deeply in being an ‘independent’ healer and have over time dropped the need for objects and eventually also many techniques…. and that has been a blessing 🙂
This article resonated with me so deeply! Thank you for your perspective! I have a number of crystals, so this inspired me to cleanse and Reiki them even more! Also, in the future, I will approach buying them with a lot more consideration and reverence.
Thank you Sara, I’m so glad to know that it inspired you to cleanse your crystals more frequently and bring in more awareness to any future purchases. Happy!
Wow! Ashwita what a lovely article! The only point worth reading was the inline advertisement on Akashic records webminar.
Rest of the article, except for cleaning section, was opiniated from scarcity mentality.
Thank you for your comment Amitabh, it has been deeply insightful for me. It is so much clearer to me now how people justify to themselves the over-exploitation of the earth. Not that it should matter, but it still does make it easier to work with forgiveness when one sees how their minds are working. Blessings on your way 🙂
I’m a little shocked to note that this exchange has deteriorated into a display of self-righteous spiritual superiority on both sides of the keyboard. Not really something I would have expected from fellow Reiki practitioners.
Wow. Kinda sad.
Thank you for your observation Julia
I have to say that the overall message was very interesting, and someone had to be brave enough to do it, and there are lots of great of points made on both sides (and I don’t agree or disagree with anything) … but I also felt a lot of Ego too. I guess that’s to be expected as we are human, but yes, I was kind of thinking the same thing.
Ashwita,
An interesting article and thank you for bringing it out in the open. We are so obsessed with the unknown that we underestimate the power of human mind. I do agree with you 100 percent that channeling energy through a more controlled medium like a human being can be more effective than jumping in to unkown and interfering with unknown entities. How many of us has experienced the darker side and the effects those entities can put on our lives if they are settled next to our pillow in a crystal. I believe, mood swings are the least which can happen. So why to under estimate your own powers gifted by higer beings, gods or whatever believe you have.
Thanks once again for bringing it out.
regards,
Thank you so much KayZee 🙂 You put it quite beautifully – when a human being channels energy, there is one aspect that no other ‘medium’ can have, and that is surrender. In my experience so far, the biggest miracles have always coincided with the deepest levels of surrender.
Thank you Ashwita for your wonderful article about crystal healing.
I never encouraged my level 2 students using crystals. If you channelise channelise reiki through crystals, you can never experience the real life force, the divine energy.
Thank you 🙂 Sometimes there is very strong guidance to use it, but what often happens is when the ‘boring’ phase of practice begins, we want to run off and try a new thing again, thereby breaking the cycle of growth and going back to square 1. I’m so happy there are other teachers out there discouraging its use 🙂
This is one polarity of the subject completely based on your opinion, not from the third higher perspective integrating both sides of the situation in to the whole. I use crystals in my healing practices by using their vibration and frequencies fine tuning chakras and clearing debris in their auric field. One can use crystals effectively by first connecting to them thru the heart. You can use reiki with crystals feeling their energy cleanse and amplify by 10 fold. The process is easier for some than others but can be achieved thru practice of meditation and love with no doubts. For if you have doubts or denial you are already closing your connection to them or anything within life, as a reiki practitioner you should understand this. You mention crystals are magical but so are we. Now remember “In a crystal we have clear evidence of the existence of a formative life principle, and though we cannot understand the life of a crystal, it is nonetheless a living being.” – Nikola Tesla – Quote from: “The Problem of Increasing Human Energy” by Nikola Tesla, June 1900. Crystals are alive constantly transmuting, amplifying energy, retaining information thru frequencies and can reproduce. They are alive (speaking specifically of Silicon Dioxide or any quartz for that matter) one is not better than the other but combining crystals and reiki you can increase your healing capabilities if you have come to understand them thru an energetic connection. When you say why buy crystals because the process from which they are obtained harm the earth well why by any of the products you use today they harm the earth, why drive a car that pollutes the air, the examples are endless. And Do you not think that there aren’t any eco friendly miners? There are many and with each upturned tree or bush another is replaced .. yes there are some that are bad but that is the reality of duality we live in there is a good and a bad to everything yet it is our mission in life to see things from a third perspective and integrate it to a higher vibration unifying not segregating based on judgments and opinions.
Thank you Amanda I totally agree with you. Unfortunately it is articles like this that make me want to unsubscribe.
Why are you so challenged by someone expressing their views that you would contemplate unsubscribing? I live in a house heaving with crystals but I do defend Ashwita’s right to offer her view. I am saddened when even in the World of Reiki exchanges become antagonistic. As I see it, we live on a beautiful spaceship that is being destroyed by our actions. I choose to believe that the spiritual forces within Planet Earth will prove more powerful (ultimately) than the actions of my species but I cannot know that to be true. So, I feel it behoves all of us to reflect on how we are living our lives and Ashwita’s views encourage such reflection. I welcome those who disagree – I just ask we disagree with love! Namaste.
Anyone who has understood the power of the Thought and Intention will know that one does not need the physical crystal in order to benefit from the crystals. In this digital age there are beautiful photographs of all the crystals and connecting to the divine power of a crystal might be the best way to use them.Reiki practitioners can use the other symvols for the manifestation. This will leave the gems if mother earth undisturbed. For those who already have crystals with them, the need of the hour is to treat them with respect and to understand the consciousness of the crystal. An attitude of Gratitude will help the universe.
Yes!!! I was going to write this (about using a picture of a crystal). Totally has the same effect. I was also going to suggest orgonite, which requires a tiny fraction of a crystal’s energy. I have never used it, but I know it’s out there, and apparently effective. As well, I find some crystals like to be transported to different locations to spread their love. But yes, I understand that we all need to be aware and not take for granted.
I was told by God not to use Crystals at all . I was also told not to use symbols but to work directly with the Holy Spirit. I bought one Crystal it disappeared I bought another one and it attracted another negative experience . I was told to work w Angels and Source
What If mother Gaia is giving us a gift to assist healers who are waking up and assisting in shifting the energy of the planet…
And what if, it’s not pulling her teeth out, and it’s part of the plan…
It is time for “enlightened” beings everywhere to acknowledge and change the way we view and interact with mother nature. Thank you for making the point so eloquently. As healers we should be the first to understand this, and to teach others, or it is just our own egos wanting something pretty or precious without thinking about what the cost to other people and the rest of nature is. The mountain is carved up, the people who retrieve it get next to nothing and then we purchase it to make us feel good? I don’t think so. Let the healing community be the one’s to teach others, let us lead the way.
Very nice thoughts and by the comments, you hit a nerve within some. I run in various crystal circles and this is a COMMON thought and worry by collectors.
No need to worry -> then start opening eyes. Gemstones alone: now it is crushed into paint, makeup, skin creams and the list goes one. The demand is outweighing the supply. How can one NOT be cognizant of using up the treasures and resources of this planet? Thank you for stating what many of us worry about.
BTW, worrying about stones does not mean one does *not* worry about all of the other issues plaguing the Earth! 😀
Hello Ashwita, I do understand where you are coming from and the passion you have for this matter. I agree, we, as humans have been inconsiderate and greedy with all things and not just with the disrespect for Mother Earth. Isn’t that what the ascension process is all about? Healing all of us, including the Mother Earth? For me crystals helped bring me to Reiki and a loving compassionate being for all things. These are gifts from Mother Earth as are all living things! Mother Earth, in my belief would be disheartened if we did not use her gifts of the plant and mineral kingdom! Yes, we must learn to remove these gifts in a more respectful way and we must learn to respect each human and their journey instead of judging and putting more harsh feelings out into the Universe. We are becoming more enlightened each and every minute. To continue the growth and awareness of the human race, I feel we must all choose our words and thoughts more carefully, as well as our actions. The Divine Mother Earth, in my belief, supports us, and wishes to support us, as all good mothers would! To stop using her gifts would be hurtful, I would think. To be more aware of the damage that other humans do to make a profit form raping and ravaging the Earth would be a better answer. People who choose to use these precious gifts have a connection to them and there is a purpose and a reason for all things living! They are the bones of the earth and have beautiful and powerful energy to be shared with the world. They wish to assist us in becoming more aware of our actions and respect for the Universe as a whole! I am a very passionate person and I have been following this path for many years and I have evolved to become more understanding. Understanding does not mean I condone this behavior! I love my crystals and stones and I sleep with them and even put them in my drinking water to heal and purify the water. I love essential oils and flowers! I love eating fresh fruits and vegetables. I have not become a vegetarian yet, but we must all travel in our time with our journey. Sending out love and light to those places, to those people would in my mind be a good place to start! I send the loving and healing energy of Reiki to all living beings and essences in this Divine Universe! Compassion and unconditional love begins within us, within our hearts and souls! We can not pick and choose the people or situations that we will have unconditional love for, we must choose and make a conscious effort to have unconditional love for all beings and situations! This is my belief any way and I do appreciate your passion for the Earth!
I always remember receiving a crystal once where I could actually see the face of a young boy who was so full of sadness – I felt he was the person who had helped in taking the crystal from the earth.
Clients often ask me how to choose crystals – especially when buying them over the internet where they can vary slightly in price between seller and it is often tempting to choose the cheapest. I tell them about the young boy. We are all connected.
Thank you for the article Ashwita

I 100% disagree with this. Crystals, like flowers, animals, earth and sky are here for us to enjoy. Intentions are key. It doesn’t matter where buy or how you get your crystals, when you do get them all you do is clear them and program them.
and ignore all other issues, no wonder Mother Earth is in crisis ,,,
And you think being a vegetarian will save the Earth? There is nothing that harms the environment more than farming. It changes the ecosystem 100s of miles beyond it’s boundaries. Even Organic Farming does considerable damage from loss of habitat, and other factors.
Bottom line, in the real world, you can’t get something for nothing. If you want a cobbler, you gotta grow and pick some apples.
Hello 🙂
This is a fascinating point of view. I do wish to add a personal one. Initially as a human you buy a crystal for the colour. Then you buy it for protection. And then you buy it to heal. And then there is this bridge towards lazyness where you actually let the crystals do that which you should be doing.. Then you forget about them and they are just decorative objects within the room. This is not a inspiring way, but it happens often.
I cannot say that you should stop buying them because the mountains are cut, and so on.. there might be a period of time when you feel helpless, disconnected (it happened to me a few times).. and you rely on your quartz or amethyst to get back on track, or a lapis for protection, or red jasper to overcome conflicts. As humans that work anything else than just in the healing field, forget what we are. Work takes priority over healing seeions and day by day the interest towards healing diminishes. Thus I believe that the crystals can make us remember and help us to get back on track. There is a stronger need to understand that what we feel, our vibratory level, and so on, is important and depending on where you find yourself, you need to KNOW that you are expanding this everywhere and imbalm everyone including Earth, space, Universes..
It is important as well that you be at your best, in your most happy place as you can be. You radiate every second, and what you radiate flows upon your surroundings. With crystals you can keep yourself and others at a higher vibratuory state (just because you are at a level where you can’t do it by yourself). You are healing them with your radiating light. You are healing Earth as well. It is a compromise indeed when thinking that Earth has gave something to you so that you can grow up, to shine your light, and then to be at your decision if you wish to give back or not. Nevertheless, when you feel that you do not need the crystals anymore, then get them somewhere safe and give them back to mother Earth.
Thank you for your thoughts.

This was nice to read.
Thank you, a very enjoyable interaction. As humans there will always(?) be discrepancies and dis-agreements, that’s our nature. I enjoy hearing others perspectives, whether I agree or dis-agree. It is my choice, but if I were not open to what others think and believe, I would be closing myself off to learning and my spiritual growth. I am learning to tune in to my Inner Self and listen, really listen and check with my physical body as to its reaction. I have also learned to check in with my thinking brain. What do I say to myself at any time during the day? I surprise myself and so will you if you decide to check in with your thoughts.

Hey Ashwita, is it the same for pink Himalayan salt, do you know? Best, Conor
Thank you for your wonderful article. It resonated with me deeply, and I can understand now my aversion to using crystals no matter how many times I tried. Love and light!
Remember we are part of the energy of this universe and have all we need in us.
We definitely are channels of whatever we intent, is our limited physicality what makes us rely on other objects or symbols to achieve our means.
Trust your divinity and you’ll be exactly where you are supposed to be right now.
Much love to all.

Does anyone have an opinion on this? It sounds to me like some are meant to work with them in this lifetime, and maybe some are not – could this explain some of people’s either negative or positive reactions and experiences?
Why would our creator put these beautiful crystals on this planet if we cannot have access to them? Our creator gave us these to use , I believe. I get the greed part and the destroying the planet , but how else do we get the crystals without taking them from the earth? That is wear they are! Just like the marijuana plant. To be used to heal!
I don’t mean to be negative, but bad information has to be corrected for the good of the profession.
You obviously do not understand the use of crystals for healing. Those if us certified for Crystal Reiki know about cleansing them and have had no issues. Most of what you describe appies to lay people just bringing crystals home with them as decorations.
Crystals do not give you any more ‘power’, but they can focus and magnify what you have, especially for specific purposes. They have legitimate uses. My fear is that this article could turn people away from Crystal Reiki when they may actually be able to benefit from it.
As for the “mutilating the Earth” thing, most us us do not get them from construction or mining sites. I find mine out hiking most of the time. And the “being a vegetarian” comment is ridiculous, because nothing adversely effects the ecosystem more than farming. Even Organic Farming still damages the ecosystem in the immediate area, maybe not quite as much, but damage is damage.
I also question your use of the term ‘Spirits”. I fear you are confusing and twisting several other semi-spiritual practices with actual Reiki. There are no “Spirits” in Reiki. It is not a religion or spiritual practice. Reiki only deals with energies, both positive and negative. Using the term “Spirits” causes some people like devout Christians, and others, to forgo Reiki when it could help them because they associate it with pagan and undesirable religions, when it is really only a perfectly natural healing modality, with no relation to any religious or spiritual beliefs.

“ For most part, I have observed that people with a dependent personality buy crystals in the hope that crystals will do for them something that their own healing practice is not.”
“ How else would you find a 3 inch piece of stone more effective than a 5 foot high, ‘living’ being?”
Two Of the truest paragraphs ever written.
I am grateful for your comment. I remember when salt lamps first became popular in Australia and everyone seemed to have one, I wondered at the impact on the earth. When I became more familiar with crystals I wondered the same. I follow some pages that use crystals as part of their business and they are huge, bigger than a car. They would look incredible outside a healing centre. but it seems terribly greedy,
I have been contemplating crystals and not using them for the reasons you outline. This has helped me with my decision. Thank you
Dear Ashwita,
Thank you for sharing your view on this, whilst I might not resonate with everything you mentioned (specifically on entities and crystals) I would agree that we need to respect Mother Earth and look at ways of changing our behaviour. You can find crystals that are ethically sourced, this considers how they are mined, the Earth and the people involved, so I feel we will naturally move towards this in the near future.
With regards of using crystals, I do this for every healing I do together with reiki, intention is always key, for me personally it is not about making the healing stronger even if this is what most people would perceive it as, as indeed I am whole and complete and the energy I channel is indeed exactly what is needed, for me it is a partnership, a collaboration and permission from the crystal is needed, I am only their guardian for the time we will be sharing this experience, in some cases this goes beyond what we perceive as I’m conscious some have returned to me from past lives. For me It is like two healers working together in some respect, each bringing and embracing their gifts and unique abilities for the highest benefit of the person receiving the healing.
Just sharing my truth and gratitude for offering an opportunity for people to discuss this topic as well as providing the opportunity to integrate what comes up from this discussion.
Many blessings.
Luca
Whether I agree or disagree with the opinions you express, I sense they are emanating from a place of anger/fear which has created a judgmental post. Everyone has a path and what works for me may very well not work for you. Everyone has a path and as we evolve that path can change. My daughter in law is Jain and her husband (my son) and their children are brought up as vegetarian. My elder son is vegetarian because he is Rasta. I am a meat eater. There is tolerance and love among us as a family based on mutual respect. I was amazed when my granddaughter wrote a Thanksgiving poem for her class at age 10 in which she told of the “different Thanksgiving” without meat, but gently added that she respected all people and all cultures. A ten year old did that, quite unprompted!
