Many Reiki practitioners and energy workers are naturally drawn to work with other forms of healing in addition to Reiki. The energy of Universal Life Force is in everything and everyone, so we may have a natural tendency after working deeply with Reiki over time to notice the ways energy works in other tools. You may see the ways that Universal Life Force works with you through the stars, the moon and the sun. Or you may feel more drawn to colors and sound. It may be many different things that you feel the Force of Energy flowing through, helping you and calling to you.
For me, this sense of interconnection has led to a deepening of my love and understanding of nature and the many ways it helps us. I find that I instinctively know the ways that herbs, flowers and crystals can assist with healing or other needs. Working with these things as I am called to and following my observations of the cycles of nature and the moon, have really been helpful. None of it was planned. It was just a natural flow of my spiritual development as I understood energy better and worked with Reiki more over time.
If you often feel drawn to a particular crystal, stone or herb for no particular reason, check into it. There may be a very good reason, which your logical mind is not at first able to comprehend. When this first began for me, I had a pretty extensive background in using herbs for my health, but I began to be drawn to new herbs I had never used, or to use herbs in new ways. Each time, when I researched the uses for the herb, I found that it was ideal for something that I was working with. Other times, I would feel strongly drawn to buy herbs and didn’t understand why. Within a day or two, a need for which that herb was well suited would arise! I have learned to trust my instincts.
A similar pattern has been true with me and crystals/stones. I have loved rocks, fossils and arrowheads since I was a little girl. In my mid-twenties, I became terribly enthralled with crystals, especially rough amethyst, though I knew nothing of the healing properties of crystals until twenty years later when I started collecting them in earnest. I had no idea what I was doing and simply allowed myself to choose the stones that I was drawn to. Invariably, these turned out to be stones that were ideal for my needs at that time.
After working with herbs, flowers and stones in this intuitive manner for some time, I know that when I feel the energy of a particular stone or plant calling to me, it is because I am meant to work with it. Sometimes, I only need to meditate with the energy of the stone or plant, or invite it into my dreamtime. Other times, I am meant to work with it on a physical level, either for myself, another, or a situation.
Sometimes Universal Life Force will bring something to our mind to help us see that we need to work with it. Or it is possible that we will be shown the thing we need to work with in repeating patterns in our life. Pay attention to these patterns. Discern them from wishful thinking and ordinary occurrences. We are part of nature and it is part of us. Universal Spirit will lead you to the things you need as you learn to tune in to the Energy.
One way I have been drawn to work with herbs and stones is by making healing bags. You could think of them as energy bags. I place items that I feel drawn to use for a particular situation into a small bag and close it up. Then the bag can be placed on an altar, either alone or with a crystal grid created for the same purpose. It can also be placed somewhere in the home, your car or even worn on your body or carried in your purse, depending on the purpose. Below is a very simple energy bag I made to bring peaceful energy into my home and shield it from unhealthy energy.
Peace Energy Bag
- In a small white drawstring bag, place one quartz crystal and one black obsidian or black tourmaline.
- Add rose petals, bay leaf, rosemary, white sage, a cinnamon stick and a clove of garlic. You may also wish to add basil and lavender, as these carry cleansing and peaceful, pure energy.
- Say a prayer for peaceful energy to come into your home as you send Reiki to the bag.
- Draw any symbols you feel led to use.
- Draw the strings to close the bag and hang someplace high in a central room of your home. You will feel the peaceful energy very soon!
