About once a week I go to the beach to relax and enjoy all that the ocean has to offer. One of my favorite things is seeing the pelicans fly over when I’m there. Animals have always been a big part of my life and I love to incorporate animal symbolism into my Reiki practice. I am shown different animals while giving Reiki sessions to others. These messages are always messages from the universe to promote healing or something that the client needs to hear at the time. I have a go to list of animals and what they symbolize that I hand out to clients and friends. I have shared here on Reiki Rays some of the most frequent animals that the universe uses as messages for us. Most people are able to intuitively know what the more common ones stand for just by their name alone. For example, most people know immediately that doves represent love and peace and that the lions represent courage. However, there are many other animals that Universe may try to use. It may be anything from a scorpion to an ant eater. Keep your eyes open and take note if you repeatedly see the same thing appearing to you.
Recently, pelicans started appearing to me all of the time out of nowhere outside of my weekly trip to see them at the beach. Even though I work with animals quite a bit and promote animal symbolism it took me quite a while to notice they were being sent to me as a message. I started seeing them all of the time. I excused it away. I started seeing them on jewelry, in artwork, at my kid’s school, out and about around the city, etc. I did wonder a few times if it was supposed to be a message for me and then ignored it thinking there is no way a pelican would be used for anything. After all it wasn’t on my list of the top ten animals the universe uses to communicate! Finally, it got so freaky that I couldn’t ignore it. Pelicans were everywhere. I finally told the universe that if Pelicans were truly a message for me to please show them to me in a new way that day. I was headed to a motorcycle show with my fiancé and thought there was no way anything pelican would be a part of that day.
As soon as I walked into the convention center hall I was greeted with a big banner. On the banner was a motorcycle and a pelican. Ok, so the Universe has a sense of humor too! I laughed about it and then went on with the day. On the way home we had a change of plans and decided to drive down the coast instead of take the usual freeway path that was nowhere near the coast. On the way there was a State Park right on the ocean that I had never noticed before. This was unusual for me because I love to visit all of the state parks in my home state. At this park was a huge sign for a place called pelican cove, a statue of a pelican and then another sign for a place a few miles away called pelican point. We continued on and passed a spot where I saw several large birds (numbering 20+) just hanging out in the water. I looked a little closer and noticed that of course they were pelicans. I grew up next to the beach and have never counted more than nine together at one time. When I got home that day I googled pelicans online. Here is what I found…
Pelican Symbolism:
- Take time for yourself to go inward.
- Unexpected abundance coming your way.
- Calmness
- Ability to take in a lot of information with ease.
- No need to sacrifice yourself for others.
- Take everything with ease.
- Be still and let the world flow around you.
- Balance emotions.
- Let other’s lighten your burden.
- Strength in community.
- Goddess
- Grace
I understood the message that was meat for me right away as soon as I looked up pelican symbolism. I don’t know why I resisted for so long. If you notice the universe saying hello to you through an animal don’t hesitate. Look it up just for fun if nothing else! You will most likely instantly recognize your message.
Sending you all love, light and blessings!
