Self-healing is a very empowering process; it allows the individual to realize, analyze and intend to come out of anything that does not feel conducive to the growth as a person. It is a moment of introspection – of our achievements, our successes and failures, of lessons learnt, the smiles exchanged, all the blessings, of life lived. But all of this is an analytical process that is subject to how we perceive right from the not right or good from not up to the mark.
Our body, on the other hand, is an amazing gift from Nature. Why I say so is because our body has been designed to maintain equilibrium. It has the ability of self-healing. Have you realized the body recovers from a common flu or a cold in a few days time, maybe a few extra days even if we do not pop in a pill? Our body constantly works towards maintaining THAT equilibrium. It is the Law of Self Recovery. When the equilibrium is disturbed, our body spends a lot of its energy to get back there. However, prolonged disturbance impairs its functions resulting in ill health, inability to cope with stress, hypertension or cancer. It is a combined effect at all levels – metabolic or physical, mental, spiritual and karmic.
I am sure Reiki channels will agree how relaxing it is to know that there is a method which helps us heal the imbalance(s) in our body meted upon by our daily activities and choices. Reiki is that ‘best friend’ who always works towards bringing our body, mind, and life in general to an equilibrium. It embraces us in its loving light restoring our DNA, cells, thoughts, our perception in a manner that takes us closer in communion with the Divine.
Self-healing is primarily an exercise wherein we submit ourselves to be in a spiritual connect for Divine help and guidance, again at all the different levels. Charisma Phatak shares her thought with us on this. She says, “Self-healing is placing your hands on various body positions. This gentle and compassionate Reiki touch which is the purest and highest vibration in turn flushes out all toxins (blockages, stress, diseases, and negative vibes) and increases our life force energy, resulting in uplifting our general well being and amplifying our healing power. The self-healing should be followed by balancing of chakras so that we are physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually balanced.” While Marilyn Shilpa believes “self healing is all about HEALTHY LIFE!” and our very dear Rinku Patel says, “Self-healing for me is basically keeping my aura and chakras cleansed and unblocked which keeps me healthy, wealthy, safe, and happy☺”
An integral part of the self-healing process is Grounding and Shielding . Charisma, Marilyn and Rinku stand by it in their regular Reiki routine while the variations in their daily practice include “chakra cleansing, energizing and balancing” for Marilyn, “after an afternoon of sending Reiki to requests and clients, full body cleansing” is how Charisma ends her day while Rinku incorporates Reiki in everything she does “I charge bath water, food, vehicles, purses and wallets, charge my crystals and grids, send healing to clients… The list is long if I write in detail…”
So is self-healing really as important to be done on a daily basis? That is from day one and for the rest of our life? How often do some of the Reiki practitioners practice self-healing?
Charisma adds, “I practice self-healing daily except on Sundays. When I don’t do Reiki on Sunday, I realize that how much my soul, mind, and body craves for Reiki energy and how I am addicted to bathe myself under Reiki blessings. Through this one Non Reiki day I come to know of value and importance of my lifelong companion Reiki. And next day I am compelled to do Reiki again.” Marilyn says, “Not daily though. May be thrice a week or whenever I remember about self-healing!” while Rinku also has specific days for self-healing. She says, “I practice self-healing approximately 4-5 days a week.”
So, during this entire read did your own answer to what self-healing is come through? Did you make a mental note of the time spent in self-healing? How did it make you feel – ‘Okay? I practice enough’ or is it ‘Gosh! I need to spend more time in self-healing’? You probably know by now what your plan of action should be in the coming few weeks.
Now make some time for yourself whenever you are not disturbed at all, any time of the day.
- Center yourself, say your gratitude, and connect to the higher beings – Angels and Archangels, Spirit guides/animals, the source.
- You can draw all the Reiki symbols you are attuned to or feel guided to.
- Take a blank page or your journal and write down about life before and after Reiki.
- Read through during this sitting itself and see if you feel there has been a difference. You could write about yourself in general or your relationships or career or your thought process. Do you see positive changes? Are you satisfied?
- If you are satisfied, AWESOME ☺ give yourself a pat on your back. Thank Reiki and come out.
Or,
If you aren’t as happy, connect to your Higher Self or take deep breathes a couple of times to get back to the trance and ask – How can I improve my life/career/relationships etc? Wait for the answers. Jot them down as you start receiving the messages (remember you are tuned in to the healing frequency all this while) and trust them. They are for the highest good of all concerned. - You may even feel if any particular Reiki symbol pops up which will help you clear the blocks. I personally sync rather well with SHK and Zonar, be it in my personal healing or that of others. Somehow I feel they talk to me and tell me exactly what and why the block is. If you do not feel guided, you may ask for a particular Reiki system you practice or a symbol. If none, understand that it is your intent that works for you. Pay special attention to your intention and how you formulate them. Simple does it!
- As you realize it and have written down all the messages that had come to you. Come back to yourself. Breathe as much possible till you feel you have come out of the state. Say your thanks.
- Maintain a journal during this self-healing phase. It’s an amazing way to discover your true self as well.
- Always remember, it is wise to get back to the 21 days self-cleansing processes once in a while (like once in three to four months).
Reiki being primarily about self-healing and a method to facilitate the Law of Self Recovery, as a channel we love to spread the joy of Reiki to other people or even fellow Reiki channels aiding them in their soul evolution. It feels delightful to me whenever I am sending Reiki to someone.
Radhika Subramanian, a working woman and a darling mother of a 3 year old girl share her experience as a Reiki channel, “Life was blissfully ignorant and chaotic till I came across Reiki. Rather Reiki found me! It’s always said that Reiki finds you rather than the other way around. Post learning Reiki I wanted to prioritize healing with my family and friends. Wanting to be a channel I was eager to explore the perennial means of Reiki and healing. I started doing Reiki chits and was blown away when my hubby’s nephew scored distinction! I had prayed for exactly that. Reiki does amaze in small and many ways. I have been practicing Reiki, though not full time, and try helping out friends and colleagues in small ways. The warmth of Reiki flowing through our hands and the peaceful look of the people when you channel Reiki to heal them; it’s not the healing on the physical level but on the mental aspect too that is what helps you recognize the power of Reiki.
I thank Reiki wholeheartedly because my daughter ensures that she takes Reiki from me every night complaining that her stomach hurts! That’s her ritual of making me do Reiki every night and making us all sleep peacefully. I love Reiki when I see her practicing the chi ball as well as though she was born with healing!
I thank Reiki for all the friends I have gathered over the months/years for healing me and making me a better person.
May the love and light increase from all of us and give us an opportunity to give back Mother Earth too for all that she has given us in this lifetime and more.
Love and Light”
