I recently wrote about using healing energy to Increase the Effectiveness of Your Goals, in which I offered suggestions for working with your daily “to do” list. You can work with healing energy in a similar way to work the tangles out of your long term goals, removing blocks and obstacles.
I would like to clarify that I do not mean that you can use Reiki as a wish granter or as a way to manifest your every heart’s desire. Universal energy is not a genie and it doesn’t serve any of us to think of ourselves as the central ruling dictator of the Universe! We co-create our world with all other beings and what you do affects all that is around you, just as their actions affect you. We can never imagine that we can simply wish whatever we want with no effect on others, no matter how insignificant it seems. We have to take care to use it for the highest good of ourselves and others.
I also would like to clarify that physical steps still have to be taken to bring the goals into reality. For example, imagine you are making a vision board that includes things like being physically healthy, going skiing, meditating, and eating healthy fruits and vegetables. You will have to do more than simply send Reiki to the vision board! You will have to explore ways that feel good to you for improving your health, for making room for a meditation practice of some sort, for fruits and veggies and for ski trips. Be open to what the energy brings you, even if it’s changing your mind or adjusting how you envisioned the goal.
Using healing energy with intention toward a particular situation can often help us to see what path may be better for us or it may help us to “get out of our own way” when we are the one blocking our own paths to happiness and freedom. Sometimes we create stumbling blocks in our paths by placing goals there that are actually going to cause pain instead of the happiness that we believe they will bring. Healing energy may show us that we have created this issue and allow us to redirect ourselves, thereby learning the lesson sooner rather than later.
Using Universal energy with your long term goals is similar to the way I described using it with your “to-do” list. Vision boards are pretty popular these days and have almost become the visual “to-do” list of long term goals. I have made one in the past, though I didn’t have the term for it back then. I simply cut out pictures from old magazines that represented the things I was hoping for in my life and pasted them on a poster board. Then I put it on my bedroom wall so I saw it each morning. You could do the same with a computer plan, a written five year plan or a simple drawing of whatever your vision is.
The idea is to focus on the feelings you want to bring into your life, more than the material things you think will bring them to you. Think in terms of love or happiness, not the specific person or situation you think will bring you that. Put things on the board that represent those feelings or that state of mind for you. Even symbols work fine. Infuse everything you place on the board with positive intentions and healing energy. Ask any that your highest good lead the process.
Take a minute or two each morning to sit with the board and send more healing energy to the issues and goals you have placed on it. You may wish to keep a small notebook nearby to keep track of the progress as time goes on and of any changes you may choose to make in your path to your goals. The process often teaches us things about ourselves and about the Universal energy as well.
