How many people are addicted to cigarettes? How often have you heard, “I wish I could just give up the cigarettes?” In Australia, in 2011/2012 according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 20.4 % of males and 16.3 % of females – smoke. That’s a huge number of people who are addicted to nicotine and putting their lives, and the lives of the people around them, in danger. If only they knew how Reiki could help them overcome this addiction. If only they knew the power and the healing properties of Reiki.
With all my Reiki 1 students I share with them, that Reiki can help and assist people overcome addictions and I use smoking as a very good example. In class I teach 2 traditional symbols (Cho Ku Rei and Sei Hei Ki) along with teaching 13 NON-traditional symbols. Students leave my Reiki 1 course and can truly begin their Reiki experience.
For this article, I am going to suggest that the Reiki Practitioner is living with a smoker, and she can’t stand the smell of it. It’s making her physically ill, each and every time her husband lights up.
First and foremost I would clear the house of all ‘heavy’ energy as discussed in “Reiki and Clearing Heavy Energy” article and then I would ask the “source” for permission to assist the person to overcome their smoking addiction. As Reiki practitioners, you will be aware that to give or send Reiki, permission must be granted and if the person is unwilling then perhaps asking ‘source’ and the person’s ‘higher self’ may give you the permission you require. If the source says “no”, then I would not perform Reiki.
With permission, I would say a prayer/invocation – setting my intent: “To my dear angels above, in love and light, I ask for your help and assistance to help “Johnny” overcome his cigarette addiction, for his highest good and for his health”. Then begin to Reiki the cigarette packets, the ashtray, the lighter/matches, and all cigarette paraphernalia, by using the Reiki symbols.
I truly believe that the Cho Ku Rei and Sei Hei Ki must be used in combination with each other. The Cho Ku Rei to amplify and power up the emotional symbol, which is used to lessen the ‘addiction’, the hold that nicotine has over a person. You are probably aware, addictions have an emotional component that people are trying to block, hide from or deny, so they reach for cigarettes, alcohol or drugs. The Sei Hei Ki (being the emotional symbol), needs to be more powerful than usual and so a Sei Hei Ki Sandwich is recommended:
If the smoker has a particular location they “light up” all the time, such as the back veranda, I would go there and Reiki the area using the Reiki sandwich and invocation. You have already cleared and cleansed the entire house of heavy energy, and by going back and using these suggestions can only help and assist even further.
Reiki everything and everywhere, that is related to his smoking habit. If he smokes whilst drinking coffee or an alcoholic beverage; then Reiki these items to break the chain of addiction. If he smokes in the car, then Reiki the car so the feeling just isn’t there, when he gets in. There are no limits on what you can Reiki to assist in breaking the ‘addiction’ and the ‘desire’ for cigarettes. It will ultimately come down to your intimate knowledge of the person and their habit.
Also depending on what Reiki you have learned and what symbols you’ve been attuned to, you can use more than the two mentioned in this article. For those who have learned distance Reiki, you could also send Reiki to the future, present and past, to help overcome addiction and to ease any withdrawal symptoms.
Should you have a person’s permission to perform Reiki, then you could do all of the above as well as give a beautiful Reiki treatment to the addicted person. What a glorious combination, with using Reiki around the home, on objects and physically giving or sending Reiki energy to help with a very big issue.
Do this as many times as necessary (always thanking ‘source’ afterwards). I’m sure you’ll notice a decline in the persons ‘desire’ to smoke; and as you continue to do your daily ‘ritual’ of sending Reiki into objects and around the house, clearing energy and setting your intent, the person will more than likely give up the cigarettes without understanding why they ‘suddenly’ don’t feel like smoking anymore. Reiki would have helped you in the most profound way. Give it a go and see what happens. Remember Reiki can do no harm.
I do hope this article has given you some great tips and ideas for breaking addiction. I’ve used smoking as an example but these techniques could be used on all addictions. You just have to be dedicated to doing the Reiki regularly. Do it daily if you can.
Love, light and harmony.
