Reiki and Smoking Addiction

Article by Tammy Hatherill, Reiki Master

How many people are addicted to cigarettes? How often have you heard, “I wish I could just give up the cigarettes?” In Australia, in 2011/2012 according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 20.4 % of males and 16.3 % of females – smoke. That’s a huge number of people who are addicted to nicotine and putting their lives, and the lives of the people around them, in danger. If only they knew how Reiki could help them overcome this addiction. If only they knew the power and the healing properties of Reiki.

With all my Reiki 1 students I share with them, that Reiki can help and assist people overcome addictions and I use smoking as a very good example. In class I teach 2 traditional symbols (Cho Ku Rei and Sei Hei Ki) along with teaching 13 NON-traditional symbols. Students leave my Reiki 1 course and can truly begin their Reiki experience.

Smoke

For this article I am going to suggest that the Reiki Practitioner is living with a smoker, and she can’t stand the smell of it. It’s making her physically ill, each and every time her husband lights up.

First and foremost I would clear the house of all ‘heavy’ energy as discussed in “Reiki and Clearing Heavy Energy” article and then I would ask “source” for permission to assist the person overcome their smoking addiction. As Reiki practitioners, you will be aware that to give or send Reiki, permission must be granted and if the person is unwilling then perhaps asking ‘source’ and the persons ‘higher self’ may give you the permission you require. If source says “no”, then I would not perform Reiki.

With permission, I would say a prayer/invocation – setting my intent: “To my dear angels above, in love and light, I ask for your help and assistance to help “Johnny” overcome his cigarette addiction, for his highest good and for his health”. Then begin to Reiki the cigarette packets, the ashtray, the lighter/matches, and all cigarette paraphernalia, by using the Reiki symbols.

Cho Ku Rei & Sei Hei Ki

I truly believe that the Cho Ku Rei and Sei Hei Ki must be used in combination with each other. The Cho Ku Rei to amplify and power up the emotional symbol, which is used to lessen the ‘addiction’, the hold that nicotine has over a person. You are probably aware, addictions have an emotional component that people are trying to block, hide from or deny, so they reach for cigarettes, alcohol or drugs. The Sei Hei Ki (being the emotional symbol), needs to be more powerful than usual and so a Sei Hei Ki Sandwich is recommended:

Sei Hei Ki Sandwich

If the smoker has a particular location they “light up” all the time, such as the back veranda, I would go there and Reiki the area using the Reiki sandwich and invocation. You have already cleared and cleansed the entire house of heavy energy, and by going back and using this suggestions can only help and assist even further.

Reiki everything and everywhere, that is related to his smoking habit. If he smokes whilst drinking coffee or an alcoholic beverage; then Reiki these items to break the chain of addiction. If he smokes in the car, then Reiki the car so the feeling just isn’t there, when he gets in. There are no limits on what you can Reiki to assist in breaking the ‘addiction’ and the ‘desire’ for cigarettes. It will ultimately come down to your intimate knowledge of the person and their habit.

Also depending on what Reiki you have learned and what symbols you’ve been attuned to, you can use more than the two mentioned in this article. For those who have learned distance Reiki, you could also send Reiki to the future, present and past, to help overcome addiction and to ease any withdrawal symptoms.

Should you have a person’s permission to perform Reiki, then you could do all of the above as well as give a beautiful Reiki treatment to the addicted person. What a glorious combination, with using Reiki around the home, on objects and physically giving or sending Reiki energy to help with a very big issue.

Do this as many times as necessary (always thanking ‘source’ afterwards). I’m sure you’ll notice a decline in the persons ‘desire’ to smoke; and as you continue to do your daily ‘ritual’ of sending Reiki into objects and around the house, clearing energy and setting your intent, the person will more than likely give up the cigarettes without understanding why they ‘suddenly’ don’t feel like smoking anymore. Reiki would have helped you in the most profound way. Give it a go and see what happens. Remember Reiki can do no harm.

I do hope this article has given you some great tips and ideas in breaking addiction. I’ve used smoking as an example but these techniques could be used on all addictions. You just have to be dedicated on doing the Reiki regularly. Do it daily if you can.

Love, light and harmony.

Great article! Have you seen the change in clients? Would this help with overeating too?

    • Tammy Hatherill July 11, 2014, 12:05 am

Hi Sandra, absolutely it could be used for overeating. Any addiction at all can be assisted in this manner. Yes I have seen changes with my clients with Reiki treatments for smoking, although this article itself was aimed at how practitioners living with a smoker can assist. However for clients whom I don’t have a close relationship with, I use distance reiki to place the symbols on their cigarette packet, area they smoke, car etc. I hope that makes sense.

Thank you for a very timely article – I have been using Reiki to heal past traumas (some of which are assoiciated with my smoking habit) and have been wanting to quit tobacco for some time, but had not thought of Reiki-ing all the locations and implements before.

I hope to be tobacco free soon, since I have only one more class before I complete my Master level, and daily it seems more ridiculous to me that I should be taking this work so seriously and yet not have used it to deal with my most obvious wellness issue. Since Reiki has healed a number of long-standing health issues for me, it stands to reason I should apply it to this right away!

How to take permission frm smbdy’s highr self ?? And hw wl i knw its a yes or no

  • bonita September 6, 2014, 2:15 am

tyvm for the article. I am a Reiki Master and unfortunately a smoker also. I have never thought of Reiki to help aid in quitting. Since I have found your site I have learned so much more than my teaching or in my books. I have been a master for about 2 years and spend my time giving Reiki to family and friends. I do actual hands on Reiki and send it to those who do not live close to me. Reiki became a part of my life when I went for a massage and my left wrist was in a brace. I was scheduled to have cortazone(sp) shots in my wrist. My massage therapist told me she had something that might help. Not knowing about Reiki, I thought she had some special oil or something. She gave me Reiki and by the time I left her office, about an hour later, it was completely healed. I went home and canceled my appointment. I have never been bothered by the problem again. One morning I woke up to numbness in my right hand. Ulnar nerve entrapment, with the only ‘cure’ being surgery. Well, I became a Reiki Master and began treating myself. Within 2 weeks of daily treatments I am free of the entrapment. As soon as I can master the quitting smoking my life will be free. I always suggest Reiki for treatment of ailments and give it free. I am not into it for the money but for the beauty of what it is. I am also starting to study healing stones and also calling on our Archangels for assistance in healing. My life has changed so much with Reiki in it.

Can you do reiki to loose weight and how.

  • twentyfeetfromstardommovie.com October 9, 2014, 12:48 am

Although maximum site owners are familiar with these concepts, but they
may lack the expertise to do it the correctly. The says of free proxies and tunnelling services are over, and as the Chinese government begins to tighten its grip on what comes in and out of
the country informationally speaking, the need for a vpn to bypass
internet censorship in China grows every day.

Hello, What an interesting approach to helping others to quit. But I would like to address Bonita’s issue. I, too, am a Reiki master and was a very heavy smoker before starting yoga and Reiki. . I can honestly say that yoga helped me to reduce by 50%. Reiki 1 and 2 and daily self Reiki cut it down to occasional social smoking only. But my 2 final Reiki Master attunements which were spaced only 36hours apart quit smoking for me. Since then I have had no desire at all to smoke. I can be present with smokers and feel no urge for even a single puff. In fact when I think of smoking , it’s almost as though something rises up from my belly through my chest and makes a soundless “uggh”…. Giving myself reiki daily possibly helped and space clearing of my home on a regular basis. I also gifted all my “favourite” ashtrays to a smoking friend. I believe that my positive intention coupled with daily Reiki were the combined force which enabled me to no longer need cigarettes. Bonita I hope you succeed in quitting . Oh, and I have no cravings, no food substitution and not gained an ounce of weight since quitting.
