Located in the upper abdomen, it governs our sense of identity, autonomy, and the ability to assert ourselves. When balanced, we feel empowered, motivated, and in control of our lives. Imbalances may manifest as low self-esteem, indecisiveness, or a lack of direction.
Here are three practical, easy-to-incorporate practices to help you connect with your Solar Plexus chakra and restore confidence, vitality, and inner strength in your daily life.
Solar Plexus Empowerment Meditation
This meditation helps activate the Solar Plexus chakra, enhancing self-confidence and personal power.
How to Practice:
- Sit comfortably in a quiet space, keeping your spine straight and shoulders relaxed.
- Close your eyes and take several deep breaths, inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth.
- Visualize a bright, golden-yellow sun glowing in your upper abdomen, just above the navel. If you enjoy chanting, you may also chant the sound ‘Ram’ as you focus on this centre.
- With each inhale, imagine this sun growing brighter and more radiant, bringing you power and strength; with each exhale, feel it dissolving any doubts or fears.
- Continue this practice for 5–10 minutes, then gently open your eyes, carrying this sense of empowerment with you.
Regular practice can help reinforce a strong sense of self and purpose.

Movement and Breathwork to Ignite Inner Fire
Engaging the body through specific movements and breathwork can stimulate the Solar Plexus chakra, boosting energy and confidence.
How to Practice:
- Incorporate yoga poses that target the core, such as:
o Boat Pose (Navasana): Strengthens the abdominal muscles and enhances balance.
o Warrior I (Virabhadrasana I): Builds strength and stability, fostering determination.
o Plank Pose: Develops core strength and endurance.
- Practice breath of fire (Kapalabhati) to energize and cleanse the solar plexus area:
o Sit comfortably with a straight spine.
o Take a deep inhale, then exhale forcefully through the nose while pulling the navel toward the spine.
o Continue this rhythmic breathing for 1–2 minutes, then rest and breathe normally. Typically there’s a short period of no-breathing after you stop. If this happens, relax into it and enjoy it.
- Engage in activities that challenge you and build confidence, such as public speaking, setting personal goals, or trying something new.
- Martial arts is intense but one of the best methods to transform the Solar Plexus. Cardio exercises and weight training also help.
These practices can help ignite your inner fire, promoting a sense of empowerment and resilience.

- Crystals: Work with stones like citrine, yellow calcite, or tiger’s eye. Place the crystal on your Solar Plexus during meditation or carry it with you to promote confidence and clarity.
- Essential Oils: Use oils such as lemon, ginger, or bergamot. Diffuse them in your space, add a few drops to a carrier oil for topical application, or inhale directly to invigorate and uplift your mood.
- Journaling to Empower the Solar Plexus: Journaling can be a powerful method to explore and strengthen your sense of self. Consider these prompts:
- When there is conflict, do I value my own desires or am I trying to seek a win-win?
- Am I comfortable if people don’t like me?
- Do I fluctuate between suppression and explosion? What middle path can I take to express my needs in a healthy way?
- What fears or beliefs are holding me back from asserting myself?
- Do I sincerely feel bad when I realise I’ve hurt someone?
- How can I take steps to build my self-esteem and trust in my decisions?
Reflecting on these questions can provide insights and guide you toward greater self-empowerment.
