If you are an active Reiki practitioner, I invite you to contemplate the following questions –
- How does Reiki flow through my seven chakras?
- Is the flow strongest in a particular chakra or chakras?
- Is there any chakra that feels numb? This means you hardly sense an energy flow in that region.
- How is the flow in your higher chakras as compared to the lower ones?
When I was a new Reiki practitioner, the energy flow through my three higher chakras felt phenomenal. The chakras felt very receptive to Reiki. I experienced intense sensations of heat and warmth when I placed my palms over the higher chakras.
The energy flow through the heart wasn’t as great but there was still a reasonably good flow. There was a good flow through the solar plexus too. When I gave Reiki to this region, my hands often remained stuck to my upper abdomen for prolonged periods of time.
However, for all practical purposes, my Reiki practice ended at the solar plexus. Going down to the sacral and root, I felt numb. I would place my hands on them and have absolutely no feeling or sensation – not even a subtle knowing that the energy was flowing despite the absence of sensation. I would wait for a couple of minutes and then end my practice for the day.
This phenomenon often left me feeling puzzled.
“Why do these two chakras always feel numb? I experience such intense waves of energy till the solar plexus and then all of a sudden, it all feels blank and numb!”
I guessed it could be because my sacral and root were blocked. I didn’t bother much about this and also justified it –
“There is a good flow through all the other chakras. How does it matter if the flow through these two lower chakras isn’t great? After all, they have to do with my Earthly life, which I don’t care much about anyway!”
And that is where I had got it all wrong!
As I progressed on the healing path, I understood that it isn’t great to have your higher chakras shining bright and clear, while your lower ones stagnate in dullness.
We are as much human as we are Divine. There is a reason why we have the lower chakras. While we are human, it is also important to pay attention to the earthly aspects of us.
Eventually, life unfolded such that I was forced into circumstances that called for me to pay attention to my sacral chakra. I was inspired to take up a very unique journey of healing my womb.
This work opened up my sacral gently. And eventually, this region began to feel more sensitive. As warmth radiated through my sacral, I was overjoyed. Ahh! I can finally feel some energy flowing through my sacral! As the numbness dissipated, it felt like the sacra chakra was flowering beautifully.
My root chakra still needs strength. It is my only weak spot at the moment. But working on the sacral also opened the root to some extent. I can feel some energy flowing through my root. But there is still a lot more work to do in this area.
For a lot of people and especially for women, the ‘womb’ is one area that is heavily blocked. This is the result of trauma, conditioning, abuse, shame and a host of other painful experiences a woman may go through. The womb is a crucial component of the sacral chakra. So, if you are a woman and you feel your sacral may be blocked, I invite you to contemplate the relationship you share with your womb.
The following questions may help-
- How do you feel about your womanhood? What limiting beliefs do you have about your womanhood?
- How do you feel about the fact that you have a womb? I had absorbed the belief that women are cursed because we have a womb. The womb healing journey opened my eyes and showed me the exact opposite – women are blessed because we have a womb.
When the energy dynamic I shared with my womb shifted, it had a positive impact on the sacral chakra as a whole and the chakra blossomed.
My creative potential soared and I began to operate through the power of flow. This means I allowed Divine inspiration to be the motivating force behind all of my projects. I began to effortlessly harness the power of my soul gifts and talents.
My relationship with my womb, sexuality and womanhood shifted and this in turn reflected in my life as a human being – opening up ways of living and being I had never experienced before.
The point I am trying to make is that when a chakra healed, not only was I able to feel a better flow of energy through that area but the qualities and aspects associated with that chakra came alive in real life as well.
I trust this article inspires you to reflect on the health of your seven chakras and to work in bringing the higher and lower chakras into a joyful harmonious balance.
