Most of us have experienced the healing effects of the colour green at some point in our lives. Almost everyone feels a sense of calm and peace in places of natural beauty and lush greenery. When we are surrounded by greenery, our eyes feel rested and a sense of peace pervades within us. Feeling peaceful is the first step towards healing. When we are at peace, we create harmonious conditions that allow healing to occur. Reiki practice accomplishes this with effortless ease. Almost everyone who receives Reiki experiences a sense of peace, irrespective of whether they experience other sensations or not.
Healers are aware that colours play a significant role in healing. Many energy healers, including Reiki practitioners, frequently harness the power of colours when they offer healing.
Green is a powerful colour. It is the colour of the Heart chakra, which is the centre of love and compassion. We all know that love has an amazing power to heal.
Often, we are unconsciously attracted to certain colours. To quote my personal example, green has never been one of my favourite colours. However, at a certain point in my life, I began to pick green clothing for myself and continue to do so even today. I did not even realise that I was doing this until my friends and family began to point out that my wardrobe was dominated by green. However, I was happy with my choices as wearing green felt comforting to me. Years later, I learnt that I was drawn to the colour green because I was in the midst of deep healing and also because I was inclined to the healing arts.
If you are reading this article, it is very likely that you are also drawn to the healing arts. You can enrich your healing practice by making the colour green an integral part of your life (if you resonate with it of course).
Spending time in nature and wearing green clothes are some simple ways to make green a part of your life.
Green candles also have powerful healing properties. Working with green candles can help us connect with the love and light vibrations of the colour green. Healing with green candles helps release stress and tension from our physical and energy bodies.
The short exercise explained below can help release all accumulated stress and get you feeling relaxed and peaceful. It is best done before going to bed and can help you sleep well through the night.
- Light a green candle in your healing room or other suitable space.
- Request the candle to help you with this process. Express your gratitude to the energy.
- Lie down comfortably, at a safe distance from the candle. Close your eyes and just breathe.
- Set an intention to release all stress and tension from your body.
- As you lie still, feel yourself bathed in this green light. Allow this soothing energy to transform all traces of stress into feelings of peace and wellness.
- You will soon begin to relax. Surrender to this healing energy and enjoy the process.
This exercise is very powerful and works like magic. It can be practised every day. If you can just let go, you will be able to feel every ounce of stress evaporating from your being.
There is no strict time duration for practice. I find that spending just five minutes fetches great results. Do what works for you.
