The physical body is the house our soul must reside in, while on this Earth. Our physical body is connected to our energy body. Any changes that happen in the physical body affect the energy body and vice-versa. A large percentage of the Earth’s population cares little for the physical body. We feed it unhealthy food, hardly ever exercise it and push it beyond its normal functioning capacity. Even among the healing community, a large percentage of people neglect the physical body. They assume that because we heal ourselves with energy, the physical body is automatically taken care of. It is true that energy work offers healing benefits to the physical body. But that does not mean that the physical body does not need other kinds of nourishment.

Just because we practise energy work, we have not stopped eating and sleeping, have we?

We cannot afford to because the body needs it. Similarly, exercise is also a vital requirement for the physical body. However, we fail to understand the importance of exercise because a body that is deprived of exercise does not send out ongoing distress signals, like it does when it is deprived of hunger and sleep. It is only with time that we realise the importance of exercise for the body. But by the time this realisation dawns, people are either over-weight or struggling to cope with lifestyle induced illnesses.

It is important to remember that if not for our physical body, we can never do justice to our time here on Earth. The body is valuable and we must care for it in every possible way. In conjunction with a healthy diet and adequate rest, physical exercise is a must for the body. Regular exercise not only benefits the physical body but it also benefits the energy body. As a result, exercise complements the energy work that we do.

Physical exercise helps with:

  1. Stress relief
  2. Increased energy levels
  3. Improved appetite
  4. Deeper connection with the body
  5. Feelings of wellness and lightness
  6. Chakra clearing, leading to the deepening of intuition and healing capacities.

There is no question of not having time to exercise. That is only an excuse. When we understand the value of something in our life, we will always find the time for it. Dedicating half an hour per day, six days a week, to an exercise routine would greatly benefit all energy healers. It is OK to take one day off!

Yoga Practice

Yoga offers amazing benefits to our well being and spiritual growth. It helps the body become more agile and flexible. It helps us experience a sense of peace and lightness. It promotes good health and wellness. It also helps us grow spiritually. To share my own experience, a few months after I did the Master Degree, I began to receive repeated guidance from the Higher Realms that I must practise Yoga. I then went on to learn it and today Yoga is an integral part of my life. I cannot do without it anymore (just like Reiki). Apart from my own self, this guidance to practise Yoga is received for many of my clients and students too. When I share this guidance with them, most of them say that they were practising Yoga in the past but gave up. So, this guidance encourages them to get back to practice.

Learning Yoga does not have to be hard. You can sign up for a Yoga class, spend a few months developing your skills and then practise independently at home. If you do not have the time to travel to classes, you also have the option of learning at home. In many countries, certified Yoga teachers come right to your doorstep to train you. Get trained sufficiently and then practise all by yourself.

Aerobics/Dance

Aerobic activity and dance practice are other great ways of not just keeping the physical body in good shape, but also of clearing toxins from the energy body. Not only do they help burn calories, but they also help you feel joyous and carefree. This regulates the flow of energy and has a positive impact on energy health. Moreover, it is such a fun way to exercise!

As with Yoga, you can get trained in aerobics for a few months, create a suitable aerobic plan for yourself and then practise independently at home. If you love group energies, joining an aerobics class is something you are sure to enjoy! To dance, you do not even have to get trained (though getting trained in a specific dance form would be more beneficial). You just have to do a few warm up exercises, play some music and begin shaking a leg. Any kind of dance movement is better than living like a couch potato.

Walking

Walking may be the most convenient option for many. Just a 30 minute brisk walk can offer many physical as well as energetic health benefits. Apart from burning calories, walking also helps relieve stress and brings on feelings of wellness. This again impacts the energy body in positive ways. It also offers several healing benefits. Going for a walk (especially in places of nature) whenever you are in emotional turmoil, helps you cope better with your emotions and brings new perspectives on the upsetting situation.

The ideal scenario would be to practise a few different forms of exercise rather than stick to just one form as each exercise form offers its own unique value to the body. If you consider the three exercise options discussed above, you can create a routine that includes Yoga, Aerobics/Dance and Walking spread over six days, which means each form gets two days per week. If three seems like a lot, you can practise two forms of exercise at least, one of which can be walking (so you will only need to train in Yoga or Aerobics).

The only block that can come between you and exercise is lethargy. It is important to remember that by exercising regularly, we are not doing someone else a favour. Rather, we are doing ourselves a huge favour. We are doing a favour not just to our physical bodies but to our energy bodies too.

Drop the lethargy and get moving! In the future, you will thank yourself for this gift.
