1. How did Reiki find you?

Reiki found me when I was seeking a way to help my dog, Carmen. She was a robust 15 years of age when she contracted lymphoma, but the disease rapidly debilitated her. Despite my best efforts using holistic methods, she was very ill, and I had pretty much given up hope. In Reiki, I sought only a way for her to transition comfortably from this world to the next. However, Spirit had another plan! After seeing improvement from her first treatment, I quickly located a teacher and became attuned so I could continue to treat her myself. To make a long and miraculous story short, Carmen went into remission, became once again healthy and strong, and we enjoyed a full and precious nine months before she peacefully passed on. I believe this to be Carmen’s final gift to me, in leading me to find healing for her sickness, she led me to a wonderful and fulfilling new way of life, and a connection to spirit and nature that I would never have dreamed possible.

2. What is your favorite symbol and why?

I love the Master Symbol, Dai Ko Myo in its Tibetan form. Though all the symbols carry a unique energy, Dai Ko Myo has a lovely mystical vibration that I feel in my hands and heart. For attunements, I love its warmth, grace and power.

3. What do you think about Angels, Crystals?

I love working with both angels and crystals. I often call upon Archangel Michael for protection when I feel vulnerable. Having attended classes that include attunements specific to his loving energy, I feel a strong connection to him and feel his presence often. I love crystals and have accumulated quite a collection: each different not only in size and color, but in vibration and healing capabilities. Over time, I have come to realize that all crystals are of the earth and as such they all carry the amazing power of that healing element. Recently I have become aware of the mining process and its damaging effect on our natural environment, so now my existing specimens have become even more dear to me as I restrain my crystal buying habits. A stone picked up in nature can have the same powerful healing properties as one honed by a machine. Even more so, perhaps.

4. What do you think of distant attunements? Do they work?

I believe that the attunement ritual, when done mindfully with breath and intent, is as powerful as one done in person. Though I enjoy connecting face to face to give attunements, distance attunement will give the same results for those who are not within traveling boundaries. Reiki is not limited by space and time. Reiki’s pure energy is available to all those who want it no matter where they are located physically.

Reiki Transformation

5. Can you share one of you most amazing Reiki experience?

Though I have had many wonderful experiences in both giving and receiving Reiki, I must say the most amazing transformation I have seen is the one that has taken place in me. I had a good life before Reiki which included a solid connection with a higher power and an appreciation of nature. However, becoming Reiki attuned opened areas of mind and body that I never even imagined. Becoming one with the natural world and really connecting with it. Developing an understanding of space and time and our place in it. Losing toxic thoughts and negativity, losing even my fear of death, these are all the benefits that I have been given by connecting to energy.

6. How do you see Reiki 50 years from now?

I see more people becoming open to the process of energy and more becoming attuned and aware. This will bring about a kinder, gentler world as we send healing to the earth.

7. If you could give just one piece of advice to a new practitioner, what would it be?

Practice, practice, practice, Share and attune. The growth returns you will see from expanding your Reiki practice will astound and amaze you!
