Reiki for a Good Night’s Sleep

Do you wish you could sleep like a baby?

On a scale of one to ten, with ten being excellent, how would you rate the quality of your own sleep?

Personally, I do not subscribe to the standard 8-hour sleep requirement theory. In my observation, adults have varied sleep requirements. Some need a solid eight to nine hours while others do perfectly fine with five to six hours. I feel what matters more is the quality of sleep that we have. Waking up feeling well rested and ready to take on another day is what counts. Trust your body’s signals with respect to the number of hours of sleep it needs and then add quality to those hours.

Reiki being a very soothing energy can help those of us with sleeping troubles. It can also help those of us who would benefit from a better quality of sleep. However, Reiki cannot work its magic unless we commit to our own care first. We would need to make certain lifestyle changes first and then the power of Reiki can help us get the blissful sleep we so need!

Here are a few tips that may be of help as you gear up for a good night’s sleep:

  1. Eat dinner at least three hours prior to bedtime. Keep it light and nutritious. A heavy dinner eaten late strains the body, thereby hindering the quality of sleep.
  2. Bless your food with Reiki while cooking or at least before eating.
  3. Avoid watching television for at least a couple of hours before bedtime. If possible, eliminate watching television from your evening’s schedule. Television stimulates the mind and an overly stimulated mind finds it hard to settle into sleep. If you are a sensitive person, you also end up absorbing all the negativity projected by the media, which makes it even harder for the body to relax.
  4. Milk lovers can drink a glass of warm milk before settling in for the night. Milk promotes restful sleep. Remember to bless your milk with Reiki before drinking it.
  5. Get into bed at approximately the same time every night. This helps prepare the body and mind for sleep.
  6. Once you are in bed, all you need to do is a Reiki self healing treatment. You will begin to relax and drift into sleep. Take care not to make this your regular self healing schedule as falling asleep everyday during self healing will leave your healing sessions incomplete. This must be an added bonus to your regular self healing regimen and not a substitute for it.

If you do not wish to do a self healing again, here are some additional ways that you can fall asleep with Reiki.

  1. As you lie in bed, visualise a blanket of Reiki enveloping you slowly. Start from your feet and go all the way to the top of the head. As the blanket covers your feet, feel the tension in your feet melting away and becoming relaxed. Similarly, feel every part of the body relaxing as the blanket covers you. In all likelihood, you will be asleep even before you are halfway through. That is how relaxing this technique is!
  2. Visualise yourself in a bubble of Reiki energy. This serves as a cocoon. Feel the warmth inside and allow yourself to bask in this energy. In time, your body will relax and you will fall into deep sleep.

Experiment with both the techniques and choose whatever works for you. Enjoy a blissful night’s sleep with the love of Reiki enveloping you!

  1. Yes i have been doing this technique of relaxation by enveloping myself in reiki blanket since a few months. And yes it works all the time. No sooner i am halfway into this relaxation i fall asleep. Thank you for sharing this beautiful technique.

  2. Whenever I use reiki to help me sleep it does relax me but then during the night I have sleep paralysis which is extremely disturbing and upsetting for me and I wake in a panic.
    How can I use reiki without this happening? Or do you know why this happens? Thank you

  3. Thank you I will look up the info on astral projection. I’m not sure if it is exactly sleep paralysis it’s just this is what I have researched and come across.
    I cannot wake up from the experience and cannot move my body, I try to call out but no sound is made, because I can’t move I panic, it’s like I am leaving my body and I have to fight to come back to it and try to wake myself up. Sometimes I’m also having a nightmare, once I manage to wake up if I go straight back to sleep I tend to fall back into the same state so try to stay awake for as long as possible! Thank you

    • It could be that there is some deeper trauma that is trying to surface. For starters, write down on a piece of paper that you are fully healed from this condition and that you enjoy peaceful sleep. Draw the symbols on it and give Reiki to it for a few days.
      Sometimes more intense therapy is required in such cases. If the above approach does not work, please consult a qualified Reiki Master/Energy Healer and work one on one with him or her. They would be able to help you through it. Blessings.

    • Hey laura….i understand what you are going through.being a healer you know evrything in present is connected with our past. See if that sensation happen at same time every night….everythng starts with a belief system. I strongly feel that since this have happened few times with you,, so you have stored this in your mind that it will happen again. NO!! YOU HAVE TO CUT THAT THOUGHT….REIKI FOLLOWS THOUGHTS.
      Resolve your issue. Heal yourself with required affirmations.

I don’t want to argue with anyone and this article is very well written buti do have a different point of view to offer. i believe that if you fall asleep during your regular reiki session there are two things to consider 1. Perhaps it was for you greater good and at that time the energy realized that sleep was what your body needed most and helped you achieve this.
    2 if you do your reiki before bed you can ask you guides to finish your session for you and way it is not incomplete…
    Just something to consider…

    • Nadine, I agree. I was finding that as I did the master symbol on myself, I would often fall asleep even prior to beginning my first chakras for self reiki. I would even partially sit up in a recliner. I was disturbed that I was not getting full sessions in. Upon discussing with my Reiki master, her thoughts were that Reiki will work for the highest good. Sleep obviously was the healing I needed (plus, possibly a benefit of being attuned to master sybol….I kind of get to “cheat” a bit, as my body needed sleep as most important in my self healing). Her explanation makes sense to me.

I’ve always had problems to sleep well, problems with insomnia and thinking too much with my problems.
